Amazon Brand Registry - they want to know more and more
For several months I have been trying to register my brand on the amazon brand registry. Today I got a question from them that they never asked:
“Which of the two statements best describe the current manufacturing set-up for the brand being appealed? This is required so that we can guide you to upload the right documents which would aid our investigation process.
Option a: I have my own manufacturing set-up which manufactures majority of the products under the brand - Upload a scanned copy of the manufacturing certificate if you manufacture majority of the products under the brand. (Optional).
Option b: I have a contract with a third party manufacturer which manufactures majority of the products under the brand - Upload a scanned copy of the contract with the third party manufacturer. Enter N/A if you have your own manufacturing set-up.”
- Does anyone else have to answer this question?
- Why do i have to give it? After all, this is a business secret…
- What if I outsource the production to an external factory, but we have not signed a contract? I order production, pay, receive the goods. All without a contract.

If your purchases order doesn’t work. I’d write up a simple contract (Factory xyz agrees to product 100 units xyz SKU for zielony before whatever date), Basically a purchase order under a different name. Surely a PO is a contract anyway? Maybe just take the words Purchase Order off the top and away for Contract on your next order.
Sounds like a lot of hassle but it’ll be a lot less hassle than working around it.
Have to ask, what’s a manufacturing certificate anyway? Pretty sure I could buy a machine and start making something without a certificate couldn’t I?

Just contact your manufacture and tell them that you need a simple contract to mention your brand and product they will manufacture for you. Now a days a lot of manufacture offer simple contract when you develop your packaging or product. You can help manufacture to cover content on contract if they have difficult to understand.
Make sure they use proper letter head, plus all details are correct what is mentioned on the contract. Also all your details should match word by word and your brand letters capital or small, company name etc what you mentioned to Amazon. Make sure your packaging should reflect your brand letters correctly, as next step they can ask for photo of the product packaging and others details.
Amazon will not register your brand until all tick boxes are not ticked in their system. Just contact manufacture and ask help from them.

Quick question
We are not at the moment going for branding but manufacture all our own products never seen or had “manufacturing certificate” where or what is it ??? ( we are a uk based company)

Wow.
No wonder we see threads from time to time about how Amazon went direct to someone’s manufacturer and stole their brand.
There was a TV documentary a while ago where a guy in the UK had his own designs of motor bike gear. He went brand registered and after a while he noticed his sales going down. Then he noticed Amazon were selling his gear. They had gone direct to his manufacturer and had stolen his designs.
He tried to fight them but they destroyed his business. He said, “It was like dealing with the devil himself”.
