Power of Attorney Query
Amazon have asked me for details regarding Power of Attorney. I have been trading for years with them, so I have no idea why they want this now, or even what it is.
They provided a list of documents that would suffice, so I sent in a copy of HMRC documentation as suggested by them, but of course this didn’t suit them.
They then said a letter showing my company details would do. I sent this in, but no, not good enough.
Has anyone else been asked for this and, if so, what did you send them?
Many thanks.

This is something that has reared it’s head again recently. Are you an individual seller or sole trader as this seems to have been something apparent of late. The point of the issue is very simple and something that every seller should have in place, ie what happens to Amazon if anything happens to you?
Amazon has always required (certainly for as long as I’ve been here) that you have an alternative arrangement in place to service your account in the event that you become incapacitated, eg through illness or an accident. The Power of Attorney just makes it legal, in law.
There should be a process in place for a trusted person to deal with your Amazon account in your absence. You could have thousands of pounds in your account and it would be inaccessible to your family or partner without proper legal access.

You need to phone hmrc and request a UTR confirmation letter
This is accepted by amazon

I’d come to understand that power of attorney was amazon seller supports mangled terminology for a letter of authorisation.
We need this as I am an employee of our company and they require one of the beneficial owners to give me authority to act on the businesses behalf. Amazon, being amazon, they also want rid of individuals running businesses.
So you need to write a letter on letter headed paper stating you give yourself authority to handle the affairs of your business on amazon. Example on the link below
