Pricing issue

I have an authorization letter from the publishers now how do I manage the pricing as other sellers go too low to sell their product and get the buy box. I simple words how do I set up RRP

If other sellers are selling more cheaply, you’ll either need to match their prices or wait until they run out of stock. RRP has nothing to do with it, and if other sellers are selling more cheaply then in principle, that becomes the RRP.

A common misconception is that the Buy Box works on the lowest price , from personal experience it doesn’t ! I am often higher priced than some of my Competitors and get it.

There is mystery what the Buy Box takes into account, but your feedback ,time selling ,order Cancellation rate ,what your turn around time is when an order is received ,and how quick your postage is to them.etc goes into the buy box awarding mix .

Even if you get the Buy Box there is no compulsion that Customers by off you .
So just list at the price that is comfortable to you , and you may be pleasantly surprised at what you sell ,
Amazon is all about “keeping your nose clean” and knowing their policies .(BTW i’ve been selling here for 20 plus years)

A completely pointless exercise. As @NEil says, RRP is the recommended retail price of a product in the eyes of the manufacturer / publisher. It means absolutely nothing in the real world. There are (effictively), two ways to sell on Amazon. You sell at the price you think will make you enough profit to keep you going or you sell at the lowest price and hope the volumes you might achieve will negate the reduction in profits you might otherwise have made.

There is nothing wrong with either approach; it simply depends on your circumstances. Some sellers employ this “1p” constant reduction process until something reaches it’s level, whereas others maintain their higher prices until the aforementioned run out of stock. Supply and demand will also have a greater impact than any RRP. If people want something, and it isn’t freely available, they will pay for it…even in these difficult economic times. However, after taking into account all of your costs, you have to at least break even. That’s what will determine your pricing.

I have a scarce NEW book that I cannot get on Amazon at £150 when other dealers have it listed it USED at £170 through to £205. I cannot get it on as the RRP is £40 and therefore I am overpriced according to Amazon. What Chaos as Amazon list it at £40 but it is also unavailable, but you could order it and wait till other new copies become available. Since this was published in the 70s that is unlikely.
