Does Amazon know about Royal Mail Industrial Action?

eBay has announced metrics protection but what about Amazon?

eBay will automatically protect our performance late delivery rate, which will be removed for transactions with estimated delivery dates until Friday 9 December.
“item not received” count in Service Metrics dashboard will be automatically removed.
They will also remove any negative and neutral feedback relating to or arising from late or non delivery during this period.

So, what about Amazon?

Should they? You know that it is happening so you can extend your handling time yourself or go for holiday mode

Not everyone uses Royal Mail. Should they make changes when other couriers are taking strike action. It is down to you to be aware of what is happening and work with the contracts and services you have in place.

Ebay is not Amazon and Ebay are not as strict when it comes to metrics.

The performance is what it is and it is down to you to make changes if you feel the need. I don’t see why changes should be changed or imposed on my account when I don’t need them and I may see this as getting an edge.

I personally don’t rate Royal Mail and their services are deteriorating. The strikes have allowed me to look into alternatives and once the strikes have ceased I will probably maintain the business I have switched to,

I daresay Amazon will be doing everything to ensure they make arrangements for FBA whether that is extending the time or switching services. We have the same opportunity, change you handling times, switch services to protect your metrics and ensure continued good service to the customer.

In answer to the question is that Amazon are aware of the strikes and probably have plans to cope, as for the rest it’s down to you to protect your metrics and seek alternatives.

Much as I like Amazon as a selling platform (in general), everybody knows that regarding this series of strikes by Royal Mail, sellers are pretty much “on their own” when it comes to protecting their accounts. It doesn’t matter what Ebay does…Amazon doesn’t ! It is down to you as a seller to take all the measures you can to protect your metrics; there are a billion threads here with good advice on how to do just that.

As for “Does Amazon know”?, they very much do know and have taken all possible measures themselves to negate the impact of strike action, including using EVRI to handle all returns during strike days, where previously they used Royal Mail.

I feel your pain. Ive extended both my handling and my dispatch times, but have just received a neg for INR. I explained to the customer that there were some delays due to the strikes, especially for letters as they’re not prioritised by RM, and their recaction was to immediately neg me.

So while I agree that there are things we can do to mitigate the effect of the strike on our metrics, they don’t always work, and Amazon could be more understanding, especially when they can see that a seller’s usual metrics (when there are no strikes) are stellar.

They do but that’s your issue not theirs or their customers

I don’t use RM on here. I do with a few lines on eBay but on here I think it’s a waste of time and money.

The wider issue is that all couriers are seeing a massive unseasonal uptick in volume. The EVRI guy told me yesterday that his lorry was full to the brim before he’d even got half way around his run. This means the drop off customers will be geting refused by the drop shops as their space is limited … and then the knock on effect that casues.

Can someone explain how Evri works? I usually buy RM postage from Amazon, print off label at home, take to post office where they scan, and place in the sack.
I have Evri lockers near me, is it a similar process?

Theres a difference between what eBay announces and what it does eventually.

Though they annonced, they’d protect later denied to remove the effect for the order sent exactly on the strike day.

Amazon does know about this and can see banner in my seller account for the same as well.
