FAO Forum Mods
@Julia_Amazon @Ezra_Amazon and any other mods.
Can I ask you to check out this thread about the continuing emails that Amazon send out, prompting customers to ask for a refund as their item may be lost. This simply encourages fraudulent claims, and it is so obvious that the supposed claims of INR are far more frequent on Amazon than other platforms or sellers own websites.

Has this issue been forwarded/escalated to the relevant department, as was advised, that can look into this ? Thank you.

Might be worth everyone sharing what their percentage of lost item claims are on amazon vs the rest of their platform sales!
Seller_ZQyopdiwkUHOZ
We're using fully tracked, so not representative of most sellers, but even then our INR claim rate is higher on Amazon than anywhere else.
Amazon has roughly 4 times the rate of INR from Ebay over the last 6 months, and we haven't had a single INR from our website sales in that time period.
Back when we were using RM24, the difference was even more stark. I don't have exact figures, but it was several times more than we're receiving now.
A metric the mods should be interested in, since using fully tracked our rate of INR claims for Ebay hasn't changed. Our rate of INR claims on Amazon has dropped to a fraction of what it was. For every 1 we get now, we were getting 5 or 6 previously.

Yes i have never had so many claiming refunds and customers stating Amazon say i can get the refund.
Also a couple of emails from customer's stating they have received their order, so i would say they have had the email to say its lost or claim refund.
I am using Amazon shipping for small letter , Amazon knows these are not scanned so why keep encouraging this fraudulent activity

Hello @Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGid,
Thank you for posting this, Amazon is aware of the situation and have been diligently on a solution. I will forward this again.
In the mean time, @all sellers, feel free to add order IDs here if you can and I will compile them.
Regards, Spencer

The only solution would be for Amazon to simply STOP sending those emails. If it is a genuine INR then most customers would contact the seller anyway. That is born out by the number of customers who are honest and say they have received the email and HAVE received their order. There is no need to put the option of making a false claim into the mind of the customer.

These are some of my order IDs over the last year where tracking shows the item is delivered but customer claims they haven't received and asked for refund:

¹card received safely6days ago. (customer)
Thank you for letting me know your card arrived with you, did you receive an email from Amazon to say otherwise
Regards Rachel (me)
03-Feb-2025 09:35 Received text saying package could be lost. (customer)
This is a honest buyer letting me know the card arrived with them 6 days before they get amazon message saying lost!!!
Why are you sending these out, if the customer as a problem they will contact the seller and the seller then deals sorts it out
Regards Rachel

"if the customer as a problem they will contact the seller "
That is what I have said all along. If a customer GENUINELY has not received their order, they will contact the seller - they do not need prompting by a spurious email from Amazon.
@Julia_Amazon @Ezra_Amazon @Spencer_Amazon (I realise you have already replied to this thread - thank you).

This situation is becoming out of hand (IMO). Amazon are complicit in encouraging customers to make fraudulent claims.
Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGid
" Amazon is aware of the situation and have been diligently on a solution. I will forward this again."
Hopefully that has been done. As has been said, the ONLY way to stop this is for Amazon to STOP sending these emails. The onus should be on the customer to report if they have not received their order, it is not Amazon's responsibility to prompt them to make fraudulent claims.
