Do I need to issue an invoice if I'm non-VAT registered?
Hi all,
Just wondering do I need to upload an invoice if I am non-VAT registered? Or is this optional?

As Neil says, you do need to upload an invoice if the order states that it is a Business Customer, or if the buyer requests - you would need to generate your own to upload, you cannot just click on the box and it will happen ! Many of us use invoice-generator.com - you need to create it, download to your computer then upload it to Amazon.
It is very disconcerting to see the ‘No Invoice Uploaded’ tab on your order page with ever increasing numbers, but you can ignore it.

Yes, you have to upload an invoice to all business buyers.
But not other sales, unless the customer requests one.

You have to upload an invoice but as you are not VAT registered you do not mention VAT or show it as part of the price. Just give a total amount and state somewhere that you are not a VAT registered business so VAT is not applicable.

Thanks all for your advice. If I issue an invoice, is it mandatory to put my address on it?
My concern is that I’m a sole trader and do not have an office address, so the only option is my residential address which I’m not comfortable with.

Is it a legal requirement to create an invoice though?
If it’s not, then I will only create an invoice if requested by the customer.

Ok, I think I’ll just create the invoices.
One question though - all my products are in Amazon FBA, so I presume I just need to include the cost of the product itself?
There might be other costs for the buyer (e.g. shipping) - so do I have to include this? How do I tell if the buyer has incurred shipping costs?

I tell customers I am not VAT registered and to print out a copy of their Amazon invoice for their records.

Thanks all. So am I right to think that in a B2C transaction, I do not have to provide an invoice unless it’s requested by the customer?

By the law, you have to generate invoices for all sales and keep it for a certain time.
By amazon rules, you have to provide invoice for B2B customers, and B2C if they request it.

Yo can upload a receipt or non vat invoice. its just for the business buyers records. Just put at the bottom of the page.‘non vat registered’ and call the document - receipt or non vat invoice. Where you would normally include the vat Amount put N/A
