Customer returning an item because "it wasn't for me"
Hey all,
So I had a customer who purchased a brand new sealed xbox controller.
After using the item he’s now claiming “meh, actually it’s not for me” so he’s returning it.
Am I obliged to give him a full refund or can I reject the return?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Stelios

You should never refuse a return request as it automatically will be refunded.
however, remind the buyer politely that it is an Amazon condition that all returns must be in exactly the same condition as when received ie if sealed then be returned sealed for a refund.

When did they purchase the item ? Customer has 30 days to return the item, however it needs to have the original packaging and the customer must pay for return.

You are only obliged to give a full refund for a “change of mind” if the item is returned to you in exactly the same condition it was sent and includes the original, undamaged packaging. In other words, the item has to be in the same, saleable condition.. The return postage is not refundable in this instance. Had the item been damaged or faulty, then return postage is refundable.
Depending on what you have been selling, you may get more of these before the end of this month. We sell lots of reto games consoles and although none have yet been returned, we know that some of them bought after October 1st, 2020 will come back with “perceived” faults (so that the customer doesn’t pay for return postage) but will be perfectly fine once tested. It is what it is.
