Buyer been charged VAT on IOSS order
We send large letter size items to Ireland as they are pretty much the same price as sending within the UK.
I’ve sent over 350 orders to Ireland in the last few months without any issues until today where I have had a buyer who has been asked to pay the VAT and an admin charge from An Post before they can receive their item.
We send via Royal Mail - Intl Bus Mail Large Letter - DG4 and the Amazon IOSS code is added by ShipStation automatically, the IOSS icon appears on the shipping label so I assume it’s working fine, a CN23 is also automatically generated.
Has anyone else had this happen with an IOSS order, is it just a mistake by An Post?

There were several reports with IOSS in Ireland a few months back causing problems
Seemed to have been resolved but presumably there will be the odd few that slip through
Have you asked the buyer for proof of payment ?
And when you say its virtually the same price, have you taken into account the vat costs etc ? As it will be about a 23% loss if you’re not vat registered

a CN23 is for goods over £270 or over 2kg (which presumably it’s not if its a LL) so if over £270 it should be sent DDP

I stopped posting to Ireland as all my items were being returned. Royal Mail said it was something to do with the customs codes.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed? It sounds, from the OP, that it has.
Thanks

Send enough shipments through customs, you will find some parcels are misstated by the customs people and charges are raised when they shouldnt be, human system creates mistakes
