Does SFP increase orders in your experience?

Hi

thank you in advance for all your advice

Does having Seller Fulfilled Prime Badge really increase orders ?

I have been invited to join but the DPD shipping rates Amazon quote are £3 above my own DPD account rates, just trying to work out out if it is worth it.

We’ve been using it for a few months, and it has definitely helped improve conversion on a few listings. We’ve found it’s especially good for things like bundles made up of multiple products, that would be awkward to ship to FBA in bulk.

FWIW we found a similar thing with their DPD pricing - way too expensive. We ship using Royal Mail and DPD, so for SFP we only use Royal Mail T24

It gives you a massive bump in terms of getting the Buy Box. On a listing where everybody is FBM and we are SFP, we can put our prices around 20% higher than the FBM merchants and still win the Buy Box over them.

On listings where there’s a lot of FBA sellers though, it’s not quite as good. The DPD or Royal Mail shipping rates you have to pay to fulfil SFP orders means you can’t compete with FBA prices.

So yeah, depends on what you sell and how competitive the products are.

With Royal Mail you can link it to your account, not sure if you can do the same with DPD, if they can set it up on DPD like they do Royal Mail, then you would get your normal DPD rates so certainly worth asking the question.

i’m on sfp on about 20 listings which only have me and 1 other non prime seller on them

I still don’t have the buy box on any of these listings despite good metrics and prime badge

So far we had a negative experience:

  • You do get more sales
  • Using nominated couriers works out much more expensive - in fact after courier fees on some items we make loss
  • Courier items (DPD) are only insured up to £100 and claim process is very very slow and frustrating
  • If customer returns the item the original P&P is not refunded
  • International shipping is a real pain

I am on the verge of quitting SFP as it’s not as positive as we expected

In general, It may help increase sales but I prefer FBA over SFP. postage too expensive but some large items are cheaper with SFP than FBA. So it depends on what are you selling.
