Report Abuse Form is Rubbish
We reported a listing where one of the sellers has added this language to the detail page:
IF [guilty seller] IS NOT LISTED AS A SHIPPER CHECK [competing marketplace]
We selected the reason "Product detail page has content encouraging to buy from outside Amazon".
Upon submitting the violation, we instantly received this reply by email:
"Thank you for your report of a suspected policy violation. We cannot take action on the report as no violation has been identified on the reported [ASIN] for the violation type selected."
The listing also had the URL (in image format) of the seller's website where the product is also offered for sale. Reporting this URL for same reason "Product detail page has content encouraging to buy from outside Amazon" also received the "Thank you for your report of a suspected policy violation. We cannot take action on the report as no violation has been identified on the reported [ASIN] for the violation type selected" response.
Same response for a couple of dozen reports of other violations/ASINs. I tried reporting some brand hijacks. Same response. Same response also for duplicate products. Same response also for seller specific information in the bullets and description. If there are certain types of violations they don't want to hear about, why not just remove them from the list. Or say they aren't accepting reports of [type] violations. They've figure out how to not accept applications to sell certain categories, brands and products. Basically the same technique could be used to ignore violations they don't care about by simply not allowing the report if those violation types were selected.
Amazon has set up this form but it is obviously not for the purpose of learning about violations and taking corrective action. So what is Amazon's purpose in setting up the form if they aren't interested in collecting information about violations? If this form is intended to just be a placebo and placate us, why then email us that there was no violation? Why not just say they are investigating and then do the usual never respond or say they can't reveal results of investigation blah blah blah and let us eventually forget about it or expire while waiting? Is it possible, that someone at Amazon did not think it was cruel enough to just ignore reports of violations but also wanted further inflame sellers by denying the obvious violations even exist? And the instant email is so that we know they are doing this without having even reviewed our report?
Has anyone who has used this form seen any evidence that anything happens? Ever? Is there some real way to report violations?

There is a trick to get round reporting abuse in a listing, but is I tell you here, I will have to destroy this communication in 24 hours. The reason being that is works with no effort usually within 24 hours.
Every seller knows that Amazon respects buyers 10 to 1 over sellers, so you have to think like a buyer. Every listing has a little line that says, REPORT PROBLEMS WITH THIS PAGE. Th is for buyers to report problems, and they do get correct fast. No opening a case, that tab in manned 24 hours a day.
Click it, select the problem area, and add a description of the problem. DO NOT SAY, you are a seller, just state the fact. If the Rep cannot correct the problem, the listing is taken down and the creating seller is told to correct it.
It will cost nothing to try.
