Is this a scam?

HI
I have been selling DVDs on here for 9 years and have 100% feedback.
I realise that a few items may get lost in the post and when buyers message me for an INR there is normally a link in the message to the order.but not this one.
I got this message today

I purchased a DVD from you on the 12th of July and I am still waiting for it to be delivered. This is really a very poor service Can you inform me what is going on

I checked the date given and can find no orders with the buyers name.it just feels a bit wrong that they didn’t give the DVD title.
I wrote back asking for details of the order, but no reply.
maybe another seller has had the exact same message?? it looks like a “cut and paste” message to me.

After 9 years on here ,i get a feeling that something is maybe wrong.
what do you all think??

Thanks

Guessing their order details haven’t pulled through on the message? It may be they’ve contacted the wrong seller, you wouldn’t be able to refund if you never got the order on Amz anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe selected the wrong seller?

Probably a scam, maybe they’re trying to get a refund offline or just trying to get your email address or whatever.

But without the order number you can’t refund so just ignore it until and if you receive a message back.

Possibly from a dodgy dropshipper but without the title or order number it’s hard to tell.

I would be inclined to download an order report for the date[s] in question and check the recipient names and addresses against those of the billing names - any discrepancy could indicate either a dropship or a gift order.

It might just be a confused buyer but if one of the billing addresses matches that of a known dodgy dropshipper that would be the most likely answer (eg, if the recipient is in the UK but the buyer on the billing address is in, say Tallahassee…).

It seems unlikely it’s a random scam (what would they be scamming?).

Check you don’t have a pending order for the same item, as I’ve had this happen with pendings before.

Hi MS-TV-Bournemouth1,

Did they email you using your Az encrypted email address? If so, they probably had some dealings with you in the past, through Az (to get that email)

If not, they’re probably chancers…

All Best

What I have noticed you don’t get this type of behaviour on your own websites but do on Amazon.

If you received this message through seller central you should be able to search your orders by the email address. That will show if they have ordered.
If not, just ask for the order number, you cannot do anything else without that.

It’s likely that they’ve just gone to the item on Amazon and clicked the ‘Contact Seller’ button. You happened to have the buy box at the time, but you didn’t when they ordered it.

It’s still true that a huge number of Amazon customers don’t realise that they are buying it from a 3rd party, or if they do, they just think that it’s the same person always selling it.
