Shipping from Ireland To UK
Hello,
I shipped my books to UK using the label provided by FBA. I looked at the track and trace from
AnPost and it reads " We tried to deliver your post GREAT BRITAIN Reason: There was no answer at the address." should I be concerned about this? What can I do to ensure my post is not lost or it gets
to destination? It is registered. Thanks

unfortunately thats up to you to do your due diligence
when storing goods in a country that is not your home country, you are required to register for VAT in that country
likewise, the seller university pages will have talked about approved couriers
you will just have to wait for your goods to be returned to you by Anpost

I take it this is to an FBA warehouse ?
I don’t believe Anpost is an approved courier - you need to use UPS etc
is it Eire or Northern Ireland and if Eire, do you have a UK VAT registration ?

It is to FBA warehouse. I am getting very concerned the items are worth 500+ Euro. It is Eire, I was told I don’t need VAT it is merely a box of books. I was never told I needed VAT or approved courier. What are my options, what is going to happen to the books, they will send them back? Thanks for the reply.

It’s not up to amazon to tell you, even when you ask, and even when they want you to send stock to their warehouse? I guess they could just leave out how it works, and let everyone find out by sending stock.
So a FBA center with sole purposes of storage, sending and receiving parcels/packets/mail with many
people milling around, require you to make appointments and bookings to receive some mail during business hours, and it’s not discriminatory to funnel people into UPS services? I guess that makes sense.
I think VAT should be applied after something is sold for value. The “value” is not determined until someone is willing to buy it and arguable anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Therefore I inferred after I sell the items amazon would apply the VAT and subtract. So I thought that was how it worked after they said I just needed to send the books.
And in terms of receiving the mail I incorrectly thought they had the ability since I receive mail myself and I don’t ask them to book an appointment with me.
Thanks for the reply. I’m learning new things everyday.

@Rafik_s_Store If you like, you can keep on shouting down the kind offers of assistance from other sellers here (remember, we are not Amazon staff), and you’ll still be in the same predicament, unable to sell your books. Or else, you could back off a bit, listen to what experienced folks here have to share based on their own experience of the Amazon FBA machine, and perhaps learn how to navigate it for the future.
If you’re unwilling to listen or learn, please take the advice above and sell them via eBay or Abe. You won’t succeed here with your pre-conceived ideas of how Amazon should operate.

before christmas we had SINGLE copy orders to Doncaster and Dunstable Amazon warehouses Due the costs of carriers we sent them Sign for Tracked post they were both returned “DELIVERY REFUSED” Royal mail like AN POST are not an approved delivery service to Amazon Fulllfillment centre
As suggusted you need to use UPS which will expensive from Eire but if you wnat deal with Amazon that the way to get them in. As stated by The_Little_shop if your outside the UK you need to registered for VAT the Registration fresh-hold for NON UK business storing and distributing from UK address is ZERO unlike UK Based business where its been £85,000 of taxable sales for some time now.
They come back in a few weeks to you and if order still live you have to use UPS

There’s a lot of head banging against the wall here.
To the OP - We in this forum are not Amazon, no amount of arguing or complaining will fix your problem here. We are mostly experienced sellers, who know how the system works, trying to help you.
The VAT situation is mandatory, as you do not live here, the same as if I was selling in France for example.
If you are sending in a shipment of £500+ of books to FBA then it’s likely you’re going to need to register as a business, assuming you are looking to make a profit from the sales, better to get the paperwork out of the way before it bites you in the backside. Amazon DO report to HMRC, it’s not like Ebay where you can get away with anything.
Good Luck

I will have to get approved courier, and get a VAT registration before I send it to amazon next time. Live and learn thanks everyone for the replies!

Hopefully you will see these posts and take heed.
That might be good news for you when they do open a fulfilment centre in Dublin.
