Read onlyWe’re pretty new to Amazon FBA so this was our first holiday season. Our sales in December exceeded our expectation, however, January has been pretty bleak. For those sellers with experience in prior holiday sales seasons - when did/do you see sales gain momentum again? Were you happy with or disappointed in 2019 over previous years? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect, thank you in advance for any replies and insight
Depends what you sell.
If you’re selling Christmas Trees don’t expect a pick up until next December
January is usually pretty low key as people realise they’ve over spent at Christmas and don’t get paid until the end of the month.
I thinks it’s almost impossible to get a useful answer to this question without a lot more detail on what you sell. Even then probably nobody will tell. There are a lot of products and product areas where the December sales might be 4 or 5 times or even a higher multiple of average monthly sales.
As it happens January is one of the stronger months for me as I sell stuff which a lot of people will buy with their Christmas cash gifts
The start of January is often good for some sellers (such as us) because people who got money at Christmas spend it on our stuff. By the end of the month it slows down. For others, the start and middle of the month is bleak because their usual customer types are skint and sales don’t pick up until they get paid at the end if the month. Swings and roundabouts, unfortunately.
My sales are really really low too but I think everyone is sale shopping rather than buying run of the mill things. Mine should pick up for Valentines though…
I am, however, selling Christmas cards… in January!
Whinge, whinge, whine. It’s January - people are skint! Same as every year @ this time.
Its only January 5th
We will be busy until middle of Feb I think people in the UK are accustomed to the whole January sale hype which ends 31st Jan. If we do go quiet middle of February like last year then that is the time I will start to price drop. Never dropped or needed to discount for black Friday, Christmas or the Jan sales.
But year on year sales are up and no sign of them stopping people seem to be spending more than a few years ago. Quiet time for us is mid Feb until mid June
We had a very perky first week in January last year, but very slow this year. January is one of our peak periods (teacher’s getting ready for the new school term)
Might be because we went away for Christmas this year and closed the shop for Christmas week. We didn’t do that last year.
I hope your sales pick up!
Depends what you sell Dec/Jan are always my worst months get a big jump from April & peak in July.
I think we’re pretty unique in doing better in January than December. It’s all about product and working out what sells in January, it can be quite a lucrative month as it’s less crowded.
All 5 days of it!
Have some patience and bear in mind Jan is often a quiet month for most of us here!
