Individual seller vs Handmade?
Hi All
We’re a bespoke lighting company from London that is looking to create our first listings on Amazon.
I’m trying to weigh up the benefits of Handmade vs just listing as an individual seller.
From a financial perspective it seems favourable with a referral fee of 12% for Handmade vs. 15% for non-handmade Home products.
Is there more paperwork or information needed on each product?
Have people seen a large sales increase from going handmade?
Is it a no-brainer being added to handmade?
Thanks
Karen

No, it’s not a no brainer, Karen, but handmade does have ceratin advantages over standard selling. One of the big advantages is there is no requirement for barcodes, which saves a lot of time and hassle. Another one is the ability to be able to customise your product, creating a more personal service, without the need to create multiple variations in a listing. All you have to ensure is your product is permissable on the platform.

You have to apply to join Handmade and your application is screened. You need to provide evidence that your items really are handmade (photos of your workshop or studio will suffice).
Joining Handmade was the best thing I ever did.
You have your own listings, no one can piggy back them. You can be more creative with your photos. Listing is much simpler and customisation is easy. No barcodes, no search restrictions, I cannot recommend Handmade enough.
And my Handmade on Amazon business is busy all year round.
