Accountancy software advice please
Hello all, I have been selling on here for 6+ years and in the last year the accounting VAT needs have changed for HMRC. My accountant is now having to itemise all the transactions which is a costly operation for me.
Does anyone use a software that collates all transactions for here and other countries that’ll save me some accounting fees please? They aren’t extortionate but margins are being squeezed nowadays and I need to keep an eye on all the expenses.
Thanks
Aidan

I suppose it depends on your order quantities but we use sage linked to tradebox. It downloads all orders individually into sage which we print out as a picking list, then load the tracking into each order, tradebox can then upload all the tracking to amazon, ebay, own website and more. It can also download all your fees and add that into sage too. When we initially set it up it probably saved a person half a days work so it works out financially for us.

Surely your accountant has a preference as to which software they would want you to use?
Usually, they will have some sort of discounted deal with one piece of software.
Personally, I use Xero, along with Link My Books.
Virtually zero manual intervention with it. It literally pulls everything in from Amazon/Ebay.
But there are quite a few different packages out there, that will do exactly that. It will depend on your budget, volume of transactions and so on.

I have setup and used multiple accounting systems for various clients (Sage 50, Sage 200, Quickbooks and Xero). I have found the best to be Xero with Link My Books.

For Amazon only. A summary report or monthly VAT calculation report from Amazon will not solve the issue for the all the transections for any period in question? It is also my question to other respected sellers as I use this and found it easier to work with. If there is any issue by using this please advise

I’ve been using link my books with xero for a couple of years now. I did look at a2x but at the time it was a bit too expensive. I got chatting with the owner of link my books during it’s infancy and that gave me confidence in how it worked. There is also a live chat feature when facing any issues. They have recently added other marketplaces on there too.

We also use Xero but Link my Books didn’t enable stock control so we use A2X Accounting. Even as an ex-accountant I needed help setting up but now it’s just two mouse clicks for the 1,000 + orders each settlement period

We use A2X for our European/UK Amazon sales, ebay and Shopify. Over the years we have tried many different companies and A2X works the best for us. It feeds into Xero and the help at A2X to integrate it is very good, as we are not experts and they guided us through the process over a coupe of sessions. It is a very dry subject, but it has to be done…

I use Quickbook. Way I input is
When Amazon have done the transfer transferred, under the payment it shows you how much fee, VAt etc is. You can input this into the accounting software. If some products are zero VAT you can input them as such.
You can keep the records of transactions for your reference.
