Apply to sell question

Hi all

Slightly new here and had rather a lot of issues already so thought I’ll check with the experts here  If an item says ‘Apply to sell’ and ask for documents containing your name , address, quantity etc and you submit these documents is it a guaranteed yes you can sell or is there a chance that you could get rejected? I am selling items in the beauty category and conscious of getting stuck with products that might not get approval. As an example COSRX, Laneige

Thank you

No, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted.
if your new seller, then your probably better off looking to other categories to sell in first.
Once you have a history with Amazon, it’s considerably easier to get approved for these kind of things.

They will also probably want an invoice from you proving that you have bought the goods from a valid source. So if nothing else and your not approved, you will be stuck with these.

You can get rejected, though that seems more common for categories rather than brands. There’s never a guarantee though.

There are so many things that can affect Brand / Category gates, i’d like to class myself as a fairly experienced seller on this platform, I sell around £20k a month and last week Amazon decided to gate 5 of my already active listings with stock sat in FC’s (brand gating of 5 different brands). I’ve got all the correct documentation (fortunately) and have submitted, I have no doubts that they’ll get approved again but I just keep getting emails thanking me for my patience and that someone will reply within the next 2-3 business days.

The morale of the story is… It’s amazons playground. Nothing is guaranteed…

Noting is guaranteed. I applied to sell one product. I provided the documents needed. However, Amazon approved the brand but restricted the same product that I had given details for. Luckily I did not buy huge stock of same product and I sold that stock elsewhere. So keep in mind about beauty category.

the question is, it is a Brand Authorisation or a Category Authorisation that is required?

They are as easy as each other. The main thing with brand authorisations is that you show are you buying directly from the brand or an authorised distributer/reseller. The category stuff is mainly just to show that you are selling NEW products from a supplier, so they normally ask that the invoice contains a minimum quantity of 10 of the product your applying for to list in that category.

If you get declined for for a brand, then you can always contact the brand holder directly and ask them to white list you as a seller. I am not sure, but believe that with the brand registry it is the actual brand that controls who can sell their products and not Amazon. (Anyone on the brands registry that has set their brand to Authorised seller only that can confirm this??)

I have a similar problem where I have submitted the receipt for the products I have bought but Amazon say they want an invoice, they can’t accept receipts. Not sure what I can do!
