What goes into an invoice? when must I upload one?

I am a single private seller of my own books. I include a packing slip with all my orders. I do not charge and am not registered for VAT. never have never will. I have just received a note from Amazon about an Invoice Defect rate >5 %. Looking back over my orders since Jan 2020, when I started selling, I note that ‘upload invoice’ is now flagged on orders that were never so flagged at the time. It is impossible get info from Amazon on what such an invoice must contain. It is also impossible get a direct answer on anything, I just get sent down a Rabbit hole of links which eventually link back to the start. So, ‘please help me, other sellers, you are my only hope’! Please Advise what goes on an invoice that isn’t on the printed packing slip? Thanks, Carna Books.

An invoice / receipt is required for all business buyers as well as any buyer who asks for one. It is not required for every order. The info that must go on the receipt in your case is:

  1. Seller legal name and address
  2. Customer legal name and address
  3. Date of issue
  4. Type and quantity of products supplied
  5. Gross price per item as well as total payable amount

They must be uploaded so even a packing slip sent with the order that has all that info won’t be enough.

If you would rather let Amazon do it for future orders and you meet the criteria you can follow the steps at https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/tax/exemption/declaration
