In that case you have enough funds to refund the £250 if you so wish by following these steps:-

  1. Locate your order/s from the Manage Orders page, click Issue Refund , Order ID and, then click Refund order on the Order Details page. This will take you to the Refund order page.
  2. To issue a partial refund for an order or customer experience related issue, click on the Issue partial refund link under the Amount to refund column.
  3. You will be required to select a reason for the partial refund in the Reason for refund drop down.
  4. To issue a partial refund across all units of an item, enter an amount in the Issue partial refund across all units in the open text box.
  5. To issue a partial refund on a unit level, click on View or update unit level details .
  6. You will also have the capability to issue a full refund by selecting the Issue full Refund Amount box.

Have you clicked refund and selected the appropriate reason for refund?

The OP has a good customer and doesn’t want to lose them and to that end is willing to pay for the return. What the OP is asking is how he can do that. I think it won’t be possible through Amazon but you could maybe try an alternative method like paypal or bank transfer, this is against Amazons policies but you could try organising the shipping from your end and pay for it.

I am a little surprised of the £250 charge. The order value must be over £500. I would ask to see a copy of the information so the necessary checks can be made.

Be very careful because this could be taken to be money laundering.

This doesn’t seem right at all to me. Account deactivated so funds likely to be on hold. Is this a way to try and siphon money from the account to get around the Amazon waiting period? ‘Low value item’, very specific amount (£250) and a round figure that wants refunding… Maybe I’ve just received 1 too many phishing emails in my time but this definitely set my scam radar off.

Normally, the product is cheap, but as I said before, because I am a business customer, I give bulk goods. 20-pound products were about 40 and the weight was therefore expensive.

but why do you need to refund ?

shipping costs are mine because we sent the goods under a contract with the manufacturer and the buyer paid for it, now we need to make a refund because our shipping policies are like that.

But,…If your account is deactivated you can’t refund anyway?
(I stand to be corrected as I have not been in this situation.)

I can only refund the product price

Like you I’ve fortunately not been in this position! But I believe you can still make refunds and fulfil orders that are still outstanding? I guess that much would make sense at least but I’ll gladly be proven wrong. This is one area I’m glad to have no experience in

40 items at 20 pounds = around 800 pounds
