Wholesaler vs Distributor for Authenticity

iI am just getting into wholesaling and want to make sure I am covered in the event of a Product Authenticity Complaint.

I have found multiple wholesalers that sell branded cosmetics, but none of them buy directly from the brand. They say they buy their products on the open market. Is this enough of a red flag to avoid purchasing from them at all? Is it better to find the approved distributor for the brand?

I want to avoid a situation where Amazon ask me for invoices to prove authenticity and they do not approve them because the wholesaler doesn’t have a direct relationship with the brand.

I am confident they are reputable wholesalers but I’m not sure how Amazon will see them.

I am also aware that I need to acquire a LoA from the brands before selling their products.

Many thanks

it depends on the Brand
some are fully gated, some require LoAs, some you can list on and they may or may not ask for authenticity proof next week or in 10 years

afaik, the way amazon check wholesalers is a, their CH profile and SIC code, and b, their website - it must be trade only

Invoices must also be made out to you, in your business name and address, exactly as you’ve registered it on amazon
If you are not registered with HMRC and amazon as a business, you won’t be able to sell as New

Also to add, amazon expect to see at least 10 units per item on an invoice however, unless you have other sites where you can sell, i wouldn’t invest too heavily as amazon can gate you as a new seller in an entire category until you have a good sales history

I wouldn’t buy from wholesalers who say this. It will be difficult to prove a valid supply chain.

The products may also be from a non UK source and you could be hit with a parallel import complaint
