Need more time to prepare before start selling

Hi,
I became a seller about a month ago to sell a few of my own books, CDs etc.
I was an Amazon seller over 10 years ago and things have changed a great deal and I’ve subsequently realized that I need to be more professional in my approach than I was previously. Therefore I’ve postponed uploading any inventory until I’m good and ready.
Please can someone advise if there is a time limit between being approved and going “live” as a seller.
Thank you.
Mike

As far as I know there is potentially no time limit, BUT, one question.
This time, have you opened another seller account, or have you resurrected your previous account ?
If a new account, then they will potentially link the two (as only technically allowed one seller account, except if meet certain selling criteria), and they will deactivate the new one and expect you to get your first one re-verified.

You’re not wrong there !
Many policy changes and new metrics to abide by.
You will need to understand the new VTR policy and how to confirm shipment, be aware if you want to sell overseas of all the new requirements since Brexit, and several others.
Presumably you opened an Individual Seller Account, not Business, if you are selling off your own personal, second-hand items ? Also be aware that you cannot list items as ‘New’ (even if look/appear new) with the Individual Account, or they will think you are a business.

Like JillyB, I wonder at the apparent contradiction.

You may find it difficult to list CDs as they became a ‘gated’ category a while ago. I’m not sure if Amazon has relaxed its rules regarding CDs and DVDs since then.

Hello Mike!

Thanks for using Seller Forums!

If you don’t plan to list anything for now - you may also like to make sure you are not on Professional Selling plan so you avoid paying subscription fee. Please visit Selling Plans for more information.

Please do not hesitate to reach out in case of any doubts and hope to see you soon back selling on Amazon!
Best,
Maja
