Taking personally the item to the customer as they live close by

Good afternoon.

I am a seller on Amazon and I received an order and it would appear that the customer’s address is very close where I live. I would like to take the item to the customer rather than post it. (As there is no point to post it as it is very close.) If I would take the item how could I state that on my Amazon seller central account? It doesn’t seem to give option for delivering personally the item.

Any advices please.

Thank you in advance.

What are you going to do if they are not in? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Bear in mind, that if it is an expensive item, you will have no protection from an A-Z at all.

In the tracking information just type hand delivered. Take a photograph of the door where you delivered the order to. The photograph will show the day, date and time and location should there be any queries with the order.

If an A-Z claim is raised you have all the evidence to defend the claim or escalate the matter if required.

Best to protect yourself keep records. Many sellers will experience theft one way or another its what proof you have at the end of the day.

I’ve done this couple of times and my customers were super happy to meet me and for personal delivery.
There wasn’t VTR issue back in then though but I think I would do it again if it happens now as the rate should be 98% not 100%. It’s ok to have couple of orders with no tracking numbers.

September last year, I made a mistake of delivering to a customer who lived two streets away for a £10.00 order. Thought I’d get some extra steps in on my way home!

I took a photo on my phone of the item and customers house (with GPS) before ringing the “ring” doorbell.
Handed the item to the customer who confirmed their name and they thanked with a smile stating how they had ordered hours ago and didn’t expect it so quickly.

Fast forward two months later…

Customer issue:

Package did not arrive

Customer comments:

I ordered the package over a month ago and it still hasn’t arrive.

Amazon Response:

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with more information regarding your claim on order x. Upon further review, we have decided to uphold our original decision.

Why was my appeal denied?
We received the information you provided for order x. However, the customer claimed an issue with the delivery and you have not provided tracking information.

Multiple messages to the customer went ignored.
Amazon and Action Fraud didn’t care!

We will still offer hand delivery for our other selling channels. All Amazon orders go Buy Shipping now.

I’ve delivered a few - I have a duplicate receipt book where I keep the copy after they sign for it and leave the original with them - no issues so far.

You’d be amazed how appropriate they think it is if you wear a high-vis jacket. I did it once. Took the high vis jacket out of the boot of my car (here it permanently resided, mostly unused) and asked the customer to sign for delivery on a pre-prepared sheet. He was amazed at the speed of the delivery and seemed extremely pleased.

We sometimes do this, not had an issue yet.

…and yes, I am up and on Amazon at 4:37am :scream:
