Customer Says used item does not match description what are my options please
Hi I sold a fairly expensive used games console via FBA recently but unfortunately the customer is not happy because he thinks it should have came with a game even though I clearly stated in my offer description that no games were included. When I check the main Amazon page listing it now says that it comes with a game but I don’t remember that being there when I wrote my own offer and I see a load of other used sellers doing the same as me in their offer descriptions stating exactly what it comes with i.e. no games, some games, 1 controller, 3rd party controllers, boxed, unboxed etc; I have always done this and never had a problem before or is this wrong even though this appears to be the only listing for this popular games console?
I have already said to him that my offer said no games were included but he isn’t happy and says the main description says otherwise and I should have somehow changed it. What should I do? Have I done the wrong thing with the listing? Should I ask him just to return it or should I suck it up, go out and and buy the game he wants and send it out to him? Thank you

If the main description states the item comes with a game then it should come with a game. I wouldn’t go and purchase a game and send it, I’d ask the customer to return it for a refund.

Used items by their nature don’t always have to exactly match the main listing (but the condition should be clearly noted of course). In this case though I’d agree that a return & refund is the better option.

Or perhaps offer a partial refund, for the absence of a game? is that possible?

so in a perfect world should I have created a brand new listing for this console? Should it have came with the game then? Is there a link to the “rules”? My main concern is that he keeps the console and gets refunded or I get a claim and get suspended. I do have a copy of the game here i’ll need to polish up but I think I will just send it to him and see what happens its not really going to cost me anything except postage._

Just like a large proportion of buyers, they don’t read the description. Just ask them to return for a refund (often they don’t).
2 weeks ago, I sold a box set where the lid had been repaired with a sellotape hinge.
The product comments stated this and also ‘as shown in pictures’, with 2 pictures of the repair.
The knuckle-dragged that bought it didn’t read or look at it and returned it, then left scathing feedback that was a complete fabrication.
Just suck it up, move on and hope karma strikes.
