Seller Fulfilled Returns
Can anyone help with this as Amazon are not answering my question. We are selling in the UK and Amazon are issuing pre paid labels to buyers who have either ordered an item incorrectly or simply want to return it. Where an item is returned for this reason it should be up to the buyer to pay for the return. Amazon are also refunding items before we have even received them so we cannot check the condition of the order. The cost of the return is then being deducted from our account. I cannot find how to change this setting, or even if this is possible. Thank you

Yes, amazon offer prepaid return labels now for all returns and have done for some time (you can only exempt for items over £100 and anything identified as hazardous will be exempted as well)
Since 24th October they now also perform refund as first scan, so the item is refunded once the return label is scanned by Royal Mail or Evri. It is up to you to review the returned goods when you get them and if there is anything of issue, you can open a Safe-T Claim.
You cannot change this setting - it is now the standard policy.

I would not be surprised if this policy is in actuality another way for Amazon to make more money.
They charge us £3.35 for a RM tracked 48 return - but I bet they do not pay RM £3.35 - so they actually make a profit on every return.

On the upside, if the customer selects the reason for return as being one that they are responsible for, then the cost of the label is automatically deducted from their refund.
So, rather than risk the wrath of the customer by us deducting the cost of the label, Amazon are doing it on our behalf which in theory, should mean that they will be handling the customer complaint should it arrive.
