Shipping Cost for multiple items

Hi Guys,

I recently sold 5 of the same books to a single seller in a single transaction - the books were rather weighty and the £2.80 postage would have just about covered the cost of shipping one. However, I only received £2.80 for posting all 5, which was a large parcel (ordinarily large letter) on Royal Mail.

Is there a way to get a fairer shipping fee when selling multiple products?

Thanks in advance

Click the arrow next to kg and change to item

You can either put £0.00 in per order and £2.80 in per item BUT you need to think about how much that will work out for multiple books for example the order you have just taken for 5 books would have charged the customer £14.00 for shipping that order which seems a lot for only 5 books, this could lead to neg feedback and poss A-Z’s.
You could look at it and have £2.80 for the order then a smaller amount for each additional item

Are you sure about that? I’ve just created a dummy order for 3 copies of a random book and I would have been charged £2.80 each

Yup I’m sure.

Each book sold for £5.90.

This is what was on my packing slip:

Item subtotal£29.50£0.00
Shipping total£2.80£0.00
Item total£32.30£0.00

I have just done a dummy shop on 3 books and it’s charging me £2.80 in total. You need to check your shipping settings, it looks like you have put it as £2.80 per order NOT per item.

So I can see that I have “per item” selected in the rate model but then in the “Shipping Fee” section this states “per order”

Any idea how to change this “per order” section to “per item” as above??

That’s a very good point. So if I charge £1.80 per order, plus £1 per item - if I’ve got this correct - the first item will be £2.80 total shipping, and then it will go up £3.80, £4.80, £5.80 etc with every item added?

Spot on you got it :grinning::grinning: Just use your experience with how many books in your usual orders, estimate of total weight, who you going to send them by etc etc.

If you would have set that up for your recent order the postage you would have charged would have been £6.80
