Amazon lost my inventory - what now?
Hi Everyone,
I recently sent in a shipment of various ASINs for FBA. One of the boxes contained 5 units of 3 separate, unlabelled ASINs, all neatly packed. This box is now showing as being delivered to the facility. However, all units from this box are ‘missing’ and when I try to reconcile the issue, it says ‘Investigation completed – shipment contents counted and confirmed’. I have tried opening multiple cases as these are quite valuable items. However all I’ve received is the following:
We understand that your concern is regarding shipment ID: xxxxx
I contacted our FC Team regarding the shipment and they informed us that as of now these units are in status “Ineligible for investigation - automatically investigated and received quantity confirmed”, which means if any of your products have missing or invalid unit labels, they require manual processing and we audit the number of units that have been received.
This audit confirms the number of units in the shipment, and as a result these products are no longer eligible for reconciliation. We regret to inform you that we have received information from them that this reimbursement cannot be processed.
For your convenience, Amazon has been working on automatizing and improving the receiving process. Our investigation shows that the quantities received for the following units have been confirmed at multiple levels of accuracy. Please see below the link to your Shipment Summary Report, where you’ll be able to confirm this information:
xxxxxx summary/discrepancies
Please be informed that we proactively investigate product discrepancies automatically and add the reconciled units to your shipment, when possible . You can view additional details for your automatically reconciled units under the Located column in the shipment reconciliation tool.
Once your shipment has been received, we automatically initiate an investigation on your behalf for certain products in your shipment. During the investigation, we will attempt to confirm the number of units received at multiple points for accuracy. If we are able to confirm the number of units received for a given product, the product won’t require any further investigation.
You can always find more information about the Reconciliation Process in our Help Pages:

NOTE :- We associates, from our end, still made the following attempts to check if your units could be located:
- We looked into your other shipments to see if your units had been mis-received, but did not find any.
- We further looked in our holding accounts, to see if the units you are missing from your shipment could have been present there, but were again unsuccessful.
- We have done all possible searches, but have come to the conclusion that there is no way to account for the missing units.
Hence, Due to the ‘multiple’ count, we are unable to confirm that all of the expected items were shipped hence can neither reconcile nor reimburse for the discrepancies you have asked us to investigate. We appreciate your professionalism and understanding when doing business with Amazon.
Is there anything else I can do? Similar things keep happening and it is now seriously eating into my business.
Thanks in advance.

I am confused. If they say the items are received but they are not in your inventory, isn’t Amazon still responsible for the units? Whether they were lost in shipment or disappeared in the warehouse they still have to cover it…
