Account deactivated - from 15 years ago. Help to fix this?

Hello there

This is my first post so please be gentle!

I am trying to set up a new Amazon seller account. About 15 years ago I sold some old university textbooks on Amazon and I think this is causing some issues.

I have logged in and am told I need to ‘reactivate my account’ However, following all of the links just takes me round in circles.

I have tried contacting Amazon and they ask me to ‘submit an appeal’ but when I do this I get this email…

This email address is not the correct channel to submit an appeal. Please follow the instructions below to resubmit your appeal to the correct channel.

If you are appealing an action taken on your account, please submit your appeal by clicking the “Reactivate your account” button in Account Health (https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/performance/dashboard). If you want to submit additional information, click on the “View appeal” button and submit additional information as requested

When I click on their link, it takes me back to the page to ‘reactive account’ and then I get the same email again!!

Completely baffled, hope someone can help!

Emma

If you have already had a seller account in the past, no matter how long ago, then you are not allowed to open another one, ever, (unless you get permission and by meeting very strict criteria).

You will need to get the old one reactivated first before you will get any further.

Also, as you were selling off your own old textbooks, then I assume you had an Individual Seller Account ?
Depending on what you are now wanting to sell, if you plan to buy in items to sell on for profit (rather than just sell off your own personal, second-hand items), you will need to register with HMRC as self-employed and, once your old account is reactivated, change the legal entity to a Business Account.

if you are just going to sell your own used items (nothing new), then reactivating your old account will be fine.

Thanks so much for replying - yes it was just an individual account.

There is a ‘reactivate account’ button that takes me to the ‘account health’ page but where do I go from here? There is a page with my health status (see attached) but then absolutely nothing that tells me how I reactivate from this page?

Bit of a long shot but do you have a deactivation notice in your notifications?

Do you use the same email address/account for buying from Amazon? Are any of your cards expired? It might be worth updating them all on that side in case that’s the reason it’s deactivated as they will undoubtedly have gone out of date in the last 15 years.

Is it possible to contact someone directly from Amazon on here?

I have followed all of the advice and still deactivated!!

Have you accessed this forum from a new seller account that you have just registered ?

Hello there,

If you are in your account to see ‘Account Health’, then you should be able to find the contact support section. There you can start a chat, send an email for get a rep to call you.
Explaining the situation to them will get them to forward the case onto someone to help get your account reactivated.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Amazon have emailed me this response:

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

I understand that you have issues while trying to create an account.
As you are facing issues while creating new account. We cannot assist you if you contact us from a different email address other than the one with which you are trying to create account.
You can reactivate the account from the Account Health Dashboard from seller central.
https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/performance/dashboard?ref=sc_pn_ahd
Also, if you are creating a new account from with a new e-mail address. Please use new credentials for registration.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me! I am unable to reactivate. It seems they are suggesting to create a new account with a new email address? I had thought that this was not allowed under Amazon rules?

I am going to post in account health and see if I can get a Moderator to help.

Thanks all so much for your suggestions

Hello,

I just wanted to provide a further update and ask for some more advice. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a response on the Account Health page.

My latest reply from the Amazon seller team is as follows:

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

I understand you have issues with your terminated account.

After further investigation, we have found the following:

**You account was closed by a team that does not allow reinstatement. **

You will need to re-register if you wish to use your old or a new email address.

And this will not against Amazon policies.

Please let us know how we did.

Were you satisfied with the support provided?

This leaves me even more confused. I think my account was closed due to inactivity and I just can’t understand why it cannot be re-opened.

My issue is that I only have one phone number - is Amazon really asking me to buy a new phone a number (due to OTP rules I will always need both buyer and seller phone numbers to be active).

I am concerned that my new one might be shut down but I am not sure what options I am left with and at least I have this email as ‘proof’ should I need it.

I also emailed the Jeff@ email address but got a reply from a lady called Sandra telling me how to re-set my password  Do Amazon support reps even read emails?!
