Deliberately ignoring delivery to get things off the marketplace

Hi all

I’ve not used amazon to sell before so apologies in advance if this is a daft question.

I recently sold a computer game as a private seller having been in a bit of a downward pricing war with someone who was also selling. The game was sold and I sent immediately via 1st class recorded delivery. It has not been reported as delivered 2 weeks later and the buyer is refusing all attempts to communicate. Given that this was a pretty expensive game where the buyer was certainly paying a premium I find it suspicious that not only have they not gotten in touch - they also haven’t replied to attempts to communicate with them.

I’m not usually prone to bouts of paranoia but I almost wonder if this is a scam where a seller creates a fake account, buys and then in a couple of weeks I’ll get a chargeback to my account saying it never arrived. Ultimately I suppose I’ll get the game back so I’ll either be down 15 quid now that the game has reduced in price, or, the game will never be returned to me and I’ll be down 60.

Is what I’ve described actually a thing or have I just fallen foul of a rare circumstance

Cheers

welcome to Amazon and their awful message system. They will no doubt make a claim for a refund and it will be granted.! Get used to this type of thing!

I think it’s Amazon system that is a bity nuts. We have been trying to contact a buyer to offer a refund as their books was lost (Royal mail investigated the loss and agreed it was lost). The buyer has opted out of us contacting them, so we can’t offer thema refund.
If you wait 10 days after expected delivery date, you can ask them to investigate and then get a full refund.

If the buyer hasn’t reported an issue then personally I wouldn’t be trying to initiate a conversation with them about whether or not the item has arrived. Sit back and relax. No news is good news. Start worrying about it if and when your buyer reports a problem.

I bet the buyer has the item. The postman will have either forgot to Scan package or not realised it was a recorded often because it is between others for the same address.

The package when delivered had thus not been scanned meaning the tracking will just show the Royal Mail ‘we’ve got message eternity.

As previous messages advised. Don’t initiate contact on this because you may end up with a Claim you otherwise would not have had. If the buyer realises the tracking was defective, he will realise you don’t have a leg to stand on in proving delivery and could say he’s not received if. Especially if your messaging him saying? Have you got it?

Just submit a claim against Royal Mail for a lost parcel. They’ll want to see proof of purchase and only refund you what you paid for it. Don’t wait for a claim from the buyer.

As everyone has said the Amazon mail system is useless (and we think Amazon like it that way). Buyers that get their item when they expect it don’t go checking tracking info. The only people who check are scammers and late deliveries.

So it is most likely that you have a happy customer. If they do see your stream of messages, you might spook them that something is wrong with it that they haven’t spotted. Nothing good can come from what you are doing!
