Shipping Price problem

Hi sellers,

My problem is as follows: I finally managed to list my product at the price I wanted. Now, another problem has arisen: I cannot set the shipping rates as I wish. My product is stored in the USA, and I wanted to offer free shipping(14-28days) to several countries (including some in Europe, but especially in North and South America). My product is a $22 book. In the "Shipping Settings" page, I linked the SKU of my product, so everything should be fine. However, the shipping rates have not changed; they remain the default rates chosen by Amazon. What should I do?

Well, the first thing to realize is that "Free Shipping" is free to the customer, not to you. So, you'll be paying for all that "Free Shipping". If you understand that, you would need to go to the Shipping Template assigned to the product and change it to Free Shipping there. (Note: In order to have access to shipping templates, you must have Professional account.)

It sounds like you may be on the individual selling plan. If so, you have no control over shipping charges. Sellers on the individual plan cannot offer free shipping. The only control over shipping offered for sellers on that plan is that they can allow or disallow expedited or international.

Offering free shipping international is a very very bad idea. In fact allowing international sales on Amazon is a bad idea.

Offering a $22 book with free international shipping means you will probably not even break even unless in only weighs a couple of ounces. Unlikely.

Have you priced what it costs to ship a book to Europe? It varies by country, but at the low end you are paying about $17; when I was shipping to a few places in Europe, one was nearly $50 (and it was not a heavy book). You do not want to offer Free Shipping to anything international (and you likely don't want to do anything international anyway; it's a major PITA).

Unless you are on the Pro plan, you cannot change your shipping costs.

Hi @Seller_Dj4hbbblRjI1h,

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to try to help. @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6bl gave a good summary:

It sounds like you may be on the individual selling plan. If so, you have no control over shipping charges. Sellers on the individual plan cannot offer free shipping.

Also @Seller_DdmPiA1p1S2Wu is correct "Free Shipping" is free to the customer, not to you

Best,

Dominic
