Variation Listing Headache!
I really hope there is someone who can help me with an ongoing problem I am having with some of my products. Seller Support is taking me around in circles!
Here is the problem I am having…
I originally set out my products as stand-alone items to test the water as a seller. Happy with the results I decided to put all of the variations of those products into my inventory. After figuring out how to do this I am able to successfully create a parent and child listing (10 variations).
I worked out that I had to delete the original stand-alone items first otherwise the system would think I was creating a duplicate. Still, this worked and all was going well until…
3 of my SKU’s will not list correctly. I am doing exactly the same process via ‘Add Product’ to create all the variations… having done this for all my other products with success!
When I try and create the parent/child listing of the 3 that are causing me a headache all that happens is that the 10 variations create as stand-alone inventory items and the parent is nowhere to be seen… not even in drafts! Also, the 10 that do appear do not have images.
I have put the images onto the stand-alone items and they now say ‘active’ but still, the image does not appear in the actual listing page or as a thumbnail on my inventory.
I have tried deleting everything (many times, after many attempts) and starting afresh with each of these items and the same thing happens over and over again. HELP!
Also, when I do create (try) at some point during the inputting of information a pop-up appears asking me ‘is this your product’. Now, yes it is my product but it is one of the old stand-alone that had been deleted. I have tried saying ‘yes’ to this pop-up to see where it takes me and it tells me to edit the original listing… well I can’t because it is deleted! I have tried ignoring the pop-up and continuing and this in turn takes me back to the same problem of all the children listing on their own with the parent AWOL!
I’ve tried uploading from the template… Doesn’t work!
I’ve tried following the wizard tool which to my mind point 3a and 3b contradict themselves in the instructions anyway… do enter the Parent SKU/Don’t enter the Parent SKU - Amazon, which is it!!!
I’m wondering if my typing tone is shouting my feeling of frustration in this matter lol!
Anyway, please please is there anyone who can help me with this. I’ve had endless online chats, phone calls, and useless email exchanges that have had me falling into variation vortex!
Many thanks in advance to all that can help x

What exactly does not work when you upload the template?
In my opinion, this is the best way to create listings with variations.

You can use the inventory loading tool to delete the listing, wait a few hours, and then upload the form template. If you are not sure about this method, you can ask for more seller support, usually this will not give you a solution, quickly switch to a seller support. The method I’m talking about was provided to me by a very professional Amazon seller support.

An update…
After downloading a template from an already successful listing (to use as a guide) I have managed to upload one of the headache SKU’s to my inventory. However there is one error showing which states:
Feed Processing Summary:
Number of records processed 11
Number of records successful 10
original-record-number sku error-code error-type error-message
1 QC012 8045 Error The SKU [ QC012] is a variation Parent in one or more marketplaces and a variation Child in another marketplace(s). A SKU needs to have the same Parentage in all marketplaces. Please resubmit the SKU with the correct ‘Parentage’ to ensure it is consistent across all marketplaces.
This has been in my inventory previously when trying to sort this problem out but have since deleted the listings that were not correct! Does Amazon still think there is a listing with this SKU despite deletion?
