One-Day vs Two-Day Shipping
Hi All
We’re a Pro Seller and we’re trying to update our shipping options. It’s very irritating that Amazon does not appreciate that most businesses don’t have the delivery infrastructure or rates they have. I’m of course talking about Saturday deliveries, which it seems only Amazon gets without paying a huge premium for.
We offer next business day delivery, which means an order placed on Friday arrives on Monday. (We sell to a lot of businesses that are closed on a Saturday.)
When I select one-day shipping, on Fridays it tells customers that their delivery will arrive on Saturday.
When I select two-day shipping, on Thursdays it tells customers that their delivery will arrive on Saturday. Obviously I can then deliver the goods on Friday but the customer may not be in since they’re told to expect delivery on Saturday.
Also, if the customer is a business so isn’t open on Saturday they might not bother going to the checkout to see we offer a standard delivery instead (although even that shows a range from Saturday to Wednesday).
Now according to what I’ve read, the two-day shipping should exclude Saturday and Sunday when calculating the delivery date but that doesn’t happen!
So two questions, is the two-day documentation out of date? Does Amazon now class Saturdays as a working day when choosing the two-day option?
Is there a way to automatically on a Friday turn off one-day shipping + turn on two-day shipping and have the opposite set on all other days? (Silly this is even necessary.)
Cheers
Nick

My understanding is that in the world of Royal Mail & Amazon, Saturday is classed as a business day because they deliver on Saturdays - so the ‘One Day’ order placed before the deadline on Friday will always show as Saturday - same for the ‘Two Day’ order placed on Thursday before the deadline.
Even for standard shipping, Saturday is always included as a delivery date.
I think unfortunately in this scenario it’s down to the buyer to look at the deliver-by date when they order, and if it says Saturday, realise that they won’t be in on Saturday so pick something else.
I could be wrong but that’s how I see it at the moment.
