Struggling with EANs

Hello everyone,
I hope you’re all well and perhaps you have some insight on the below issue…

I have been trying to run an Amazon store since late last year and we are still in a complete uphill battle. Amazon support are consistently giving copy/paste answers that are not helpful. This is now our second account (and second set of fees…) trying to do this with so far absolutely no gain. Fed up is an understatement after so many support cases with useless answers, wasted hours and wasted money.

We own and have owned a selection of EAN numbers, purchased directly through GS1. We cannot list any items on Amazon under our brand as we get an error relating to our brand not matching the EAN number. “You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list. If you believe you have reached this message in error, please contact Seller Support.”

One such EAN is 5065010287037. We own this with GS1 and it is registered with brand “HPI Technology”. Putting the “HPI Technology” brand into Amazon throws the above error. This EAN is now about 2-3 months old. The SKU on the EAN also matches the SKU we are giving Amazon.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

firstly, are your brand registered on amazon - or applied to sell under your Brand Name ?
If not, you have to enter ‘generic’ as the Brand

secondly,

why have you opened a second account ?
this is only permitted under certain circumstances and if your original account wasn’t fully verified or had performance issues, your 2nd account may very well be suspended

Thanks for all replies everyone. I am in the process of closing the account to ensure compliance with Amazon.

Is there any guidance on the EAN issue at all?

Thanks

Hi Little Shop
We have Brand Approval with Amazon at present.

Thanks guys. So we have applied across various subcategories that are relevant to the products we sell. We now just get

You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list. If you believe you have reached this message in error, please contact Seller Support.

It seems like our brand is approved for the category, but I cannot work out where this mismatch exists.

Have you checked the manufacturer?

I know once I had a nightmare trying to list a card, I usually don’t flip the “more attributes” switch until I get to the images. I had one brand name filled in under the “Brand Name” but another in the “Manufacturer” by accident (I copied a listing), this somehow threw up errors, when I fixed the Manufacturer it went through ok.

Okay @Dedez 's suggestion might have done it. I have set a manufacturer against the EAN with GS1 and matched it in Amazon and it looks like it’s getting somewhere. Now have 3 listings up.

Huge thank you to @The_Little_Shop and @Dedez for helping me out with this issue.

Now just getting that individual account closed down.
