France Tax Statement?
I’m hoping someone can shed some light on why we have received this.
We only use the UK FBA service (not FBM either) and only have listings on the UK site.
The only option we have currently on in the FBA settings is ‘Allow Amazon to buy my products to sell globally’. We do not have anything stored in any other country and there are no listings live in any other country (we hadn’t even added a credit card to them)
We have just received a France Tax statement saying we owe 25 odd euros.
I was on the understanding that as this was a Marketplace facilitated sale (like eBays GSP) that the sale we do is to Amazon (B2B) and they deal with the tax/duties on their end to whatever country they sell too.
So why have we got a bill? And am I now going to have to register in France for this?
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated

several reports of people receiving tax statements this week - and it happens every year on here too
are you sure it says you owe money and not that thats your sales total
It doesn’t reference EPR does it - presuming you are not registered ?!
I thought amazon themselves would bill this annually…

I guess my starting point would be to do a transaction report on the French marketplace and look for all orders and start there trying to find an obvious discrepancy. I presume you ware using EFN to sell French listings from your UK stock?

I’ve created a post about this today too! I am at a loss at the minute as to what I need to do with it.
I have checked the order number and it is an order from FBA for November 2022 so it appears the order happened but I do not know why or what I need to do.

So does FBA ship outside the UK. And is there an option to turn it off?

This statement comes every year, it’s just a financial statement your accounting purposes. VAT on EU sales has already been collected by Amz. Unless you have goods stored in France, you needn’t register to French VAT.

You have said this is a tax statement so this does not necessarily mean a demand for payment.
Anyone who has transacted directly in France has to be declared to the French tax authorities and they will ask Amazon to supply them with sample transactions and order numbers to check the correct tax has been paid.
You should have the order number and you should be able to determine what tax was paid on it. IE if this was an Amazon order, it maybe IOSS therefore it has been paid but Amazon have done this your behalf. Remember the actual customer is liable for the VAT not you but if they are charged for it by Amazon, then Amazon would pass this VAT onto you for you to pay or in most cases. they take it and pay it.

If you have got “Allow amazon to sell your products globally” (all FBA sellers are enrolled automatically) Amazon accepts international orders on your behalf (you can identify these orders as there is Amazon EU SARL displayed as a buyer) and they arrange shipping etc.
Unfortunately, returns from EU countries do not come back to the UK. These are stored in EU fulfilment centres. Amazon charges you for this and you are obliged to register for VAT in countries where your stock is stored.
@The_Little_Shop some time ago posted a link where you can download a report on what is stored in what country. That will enable you to submit a removal order. Could you please post that link again? I need to dispose of stock in Germany (they have suspended my German account due to a lack of VAT). Thank you.

This is why it’s really really import to use software such as A2X (other brands are available) to map Amazon accounting correctly otherwise you can end up paying things like VAT twice… The amount of accounting mapping we have now is crazy… must be well over 100+ different mappings… huge increase due to MFT and MFV most of which should be zero rated…

I got one last year and just ignored it, nothing happened. Like you I do not sell to France.
