Suspension due to related account(s)

Hello all,

We have three Amazon accounts. They have been suspended due to account relation. They were operating in good standing before. Both of the secondary accounts had the purpose of becoming a seller account for one brand only. Both for our own brands. The main account has listings from several brands and has been operating for multiple years.

We first tried explaining the matter through appeals, elaborating on how the accounts are separated. Here we only received standard format answers. Our thought is now that it might be easier to return to operating from one account, and include the owned brands there. Now, we need to open up those two ‘extra’ accounts so we can close them. Then, we are hopefully able to start selling through our ‘main’ account again.

We have written up a short and concise POA following some insights from this forum. We were hoping to check this POA with this forum in order to perfect it. Any tips would be highly appreciated!

POA:

  1. This account was made as a secondary account and has been related to our main account XYXY. This account had the purpose of creating a Brand page for one of our owned brands: XZXZ. It is however not allowed to maintain multiple accounts as one business.
  2. We are working on reactivating our main account through an appeal and seller support. If and when this secondary account is no longer suspended, we will close this XZXZ account. We will conduct all business through our main account.
  3. We will not create any more accounts to support our business. All business purposes will go through our main account: XYXY.

Amazon Seller Support has pointed out that the root cause for our suspension was “document-related” and that bank info should be updated. Some investigation has led me to believe that there has been a mistake in the VAT section of the platform.

So, we sent this POA regarding the new discovery and, within 10 minutes, we received the standard reply that there is insufficient information.

  1. We had selected the use of OSS within the VAT framework, before this is completely settled with the corresponding VAT Services. We do realize that errors regarding VAT Services can be sensitive and important, and we recognize the diligence we should have taken in selecting this option. We are in contact with the VAT Services of Amazon to further implement VAT Filings through Amazon when the account is reactivated.
  2. We have switched back to “No Union-OSS Registration”, so that we are back in line with regulation. We will only switch back to OSS when the correct VAT reference number is registered within the Amazon portal. Even then, we will only continue to make changes with help/oversight from the VAT Services Department of Amazon itself.
  3. To comply within the VAT framework of Amazon and the EU we will only make changes with oversight from the Amazon VAT Services Department. We are working to get OSS set up within our company and when we are ready, we will consult with the VAT Services Department to implement it on the Amazon platform

Without knowing the background details, it’s impossible to comment on the validity of this POA, so I have a couple of questions:

  1. In which year were the second and third accounts opened?
  2. Did they satisfy the rather strict conditions under which such accounts can be opened?

usually multiple accounts are ok as long as there are no crossovers

Do any of the multiple accounts sell in the same category ?

did one get suspended for any other reason as that will affect the other 2

We realise that offering these similar products trough different channels is at the least a grey area and therefore want to return to the use of 1 account. and include the homebrand products there.

Here our revised POA:

  1. We set up separate accounts for our different businesses after consulting the seller code of conduct. We were not aware of underlying requirements that are explained further in the Amazon Help environment. We believed that two separate companies, with a different set of products were allowed to operate simultaneously on Amazon. However, as the products cross-over within the same category, this is not allowed. We initially missed this requirement within the general guidelines/code of conduct.
On top of that, our back-end product feeds got intertwined and generated similar listings across both accounts. We failed to implement a system that clearly separates the product feeds for the different businesses.
  2. As soon as we found out that there was an error with the feeds and listings were duplicated, we manually deleted all of the listings from the secondary account and disabled the function that automatically pushes the product feeds’ information.
  3. We intend to take the most rigorous adjustment, which has the most effect: closing the secondary account(s). We intend to do so immediately after the secondary accounts are reinstated. In this way, we are 100% sure that our products are solely listed on our main account and there will be no room for technical errors.

Looking forward to your feedback!

I can see within the portal that my predecessor has tried several times to register the brands but has failed. One case is actually still pending so this might result in a registration, but for now, the brand registrations are not complete
