I remember seeing a news item earlier this year , where the seller would be charged for out of stock items.
1.Does anyone know where I can pinpoint these charges?
2. Do you now get charged for inactive items of which we have several dozen?

you don’t get charged for inactive items, so that’s likely not the issue.
To dig into the details, check the Payments section in Seller Central. You can download a PDF overview, but for deeper insights, the Payment Settlements Report is the way to go. Keep in mind these reports come as text files, so you’ll need to import them into Excel. Since they’re very detailed and contain a lot of rows, creating a small pivot table can help you break down the revenue and cost categories for a clearer view.

Hi, We saw the initial notifications of changes from amazon back in June. I asked my partner who didn't see any immediate changes.
I later began noticing the same thing and discovered the VAT differences. You can only see the VAT clearly being charged in the invoices from the new Amazon UK entity. Try comparing it with invoices from the period just before 1st August.
These changes have major impacts to cashflow for businesses and the timing of it just before Q4 when everyone is stocking up has made it worse. If you sell a low margin item potentially you have to reclaim the vat from HMRC to realise it. Much like people who sell Zero Rated goods or only export.
I think thousands of other sellers are still oblivious to these changes and are just as puzzled. I know the people I asked didn't know until I told them to check.
