Invalid Merchant - Problem With Seller Account
Hi, I have recently opened my first UK Amazon account & when I go to make a listing on the UK marketplace, I get sent to an error page that says; 'We are sorry, we cannot accept new listings at this time. If your account is new, please allow 90 minutes for account setup and try again. Otherwise return to your seller account for more info…"
At my home page I also receive a red ‘alert’ box that says something about updating my identity info, but when I go to click on ‘submit verification’ it is greyed out (and all the info already filled in on the form is correct).
Additionally, I have registered with a HSBC debit card and not credit card for the ‘charging method’, but now understand that debit cards may not be accepted. But if that is the case, why have I been verified. Anyway I’m very confused at this moment in time and my attempts to get some useful info out of the Amazon Seller ‘case’ system have been in vain. Any help would be much appreciated, for now I will open a new credit card account and replace my current debit card info with that and hopefully that helps.

ok firstly new accounts are opened and then put through a verification process which is currently taking up to 3-4 months - during this time amazon will ask you for various documents to prove who you are - passport, bank statement, UTR or Companies house record - keep an eye on your account as at some point that greyed out box will be ‘open’ for you to upload the docs
when you send everything off, just hold fire and wait for a reponse.
Debit card is fine - we have a HSBC business account and only have a debit card - we have never had a credit card and its ok

Thank you all for the help. I have a different issue now though which I am about to make another post about lool. But that’s not to say that your advice wasn’t helpful

Hi Hope and other moderators. I am seeing increasing advice and response to questions from the moderators, which is really good.
Is it possible you can refer some of the suggestions by users of the Forum, such @JillyB1 above for consideration? It will be just as useful as the advice you are providing when sellers find themselves in situations such as needing to complete POA’s
