USPS info different from Amazon tracking

I've been having a lot of issues with USPS. From not scanning picked up packages, delivering months late, etc, etc. I'm wondering where the Amazon tracking info comes from?

Hello @Seller_XFBUEIovCHLk3

Christine here from Amazon Forums.

I understand your frustration with USPS issues. Regarding Amazon tracking info.

For FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) orders: Amazon generates the tracking info when they ship the package.

For seller-fulfilled orders: The tracking info typically comes from the carrier (in this case, USPS) once they scan the package into their system.

Please know, Amazon has an integrated system with USPS (and other major carriers) that receives regular updates on package status and these updates are supposed to be in real-time or near real-time.

I would recommend you to report persistent issues to your local USPS office and consider escalating to the regional level if problems continue.

For significant delays or missing packages, file claims with USPS.

Keep Amazon informed about ongoing USPS issues, especially if they're affecting your seller metrics.

Remember, while Amazon's tracking system is generally reliable, it's dependent on the information provided by the carrier. If USPS is having systemic issues, it will inevitably affect the accuracy of tracking information on Amazon. It's important to keep both Amazon and your customers informed about any significant shipping delays or issues.

Hope this information is useful in your situation.

Christine.
