Shipment Stuck at German Customs

Hello

I have sent my first shipment to Amazon Germany. After sending successfully to other European countries, I have registered and got my EORI (new style starting with GB) number as advised. This is linked to my UK LTD company and has been accepted by other countries without any issues.

On the box arriving at customs in Germany, the package is now stuck and has not cleared. UPS said they do not want an EORI from my company but want an EORI from amazon in order for the package to clear customs and they are awaiting amazon to contact them regarding this.

Please can you give advise on how to solve this situation? Its a fairly big chunk of stock and would be a damaging loss for a small company like mine.

Thanks in advance

Were the goods shipped from Thailand or from the UK?

If from Thailand then they may have issue with using a UK based EORI. Is the consignment being handled by a freight handler for you and have you shipped it DDP so that your company is the importer of record?

I think it has been shipped directly. my company only being listed on the FBA labels.

It seems strange as other countries cleared them right in. Maybe to do with the on going brexit nightmares

Somehow, similar, happened to us, sending our first shipment to FBA US. Also trough UPS.
Main problem was, that on invoices, there was a slightly mistake, having Name of the company our company and as delivery address something like Amazon. The customs clearance came late, after we send the invoices correctly, and specified clearly, that goods will only stocked on Amazon Warehouse.
Also, the FBA label was somehow misleading.
We found a customs agent there which takeover the UPS papers and did their job.
From our experience with Germany, you will find out that, they obey rules to the letter, so you need to speak with UPS to find clearly what they want. Is improbably that they expect something from Amazon.
Or find a customs agent to do it for you.
Hope that it helps you.

From your post it sounds like the customs forms were filled incorrectly and you failed to arrange a prior agreement with the carrier on clearance.

You need to be listed as the importer of record and responsible for paying all customs duties, taxes or additional fees.

Amazon will not accept a package, which is requiring them to handle the customs clearance.
