Amazon UK - Selling Powerbanks - Questions about FBA and Certificates

Hi,
I will be selling power banks on amazon and I got a few questions and I would like some suggestions from the experienced people on here who sell their products.

I got two options to receive these, I can send it directly to Amazons warehouse but I wont be able to see them and test them.

All the stock will be at the warehouse and ready to sell but I don`t know how many I am going to sell at the start so I am concerned that keeping all the stock there could cost me a lot as amazon charges to keep the boxes in the warehouse.

If i keep them at home and send 100 to amazons warehouse and keep the rest and keep the stock updated as they sell. This way, I will be able to test the samples before I send them off to amazons warehouse.

However, I believe that the charge for sending it to amazon`s warehouse from my house could cost a lot. I kindly ask other sellers to share their experience with keeping the stock updated and also the use of FBA.

I got another question about selling power banks on amazon. What kind of certificates do I have to provide to sell on amazon as there are batteries inside these.

I have many certificates for these power banks and I hope they meet all the requirements. I am getting them from a very trusted supplier who have been in this business for many years.

Could you please help me to clear the questions on my head :slight_smile:
Thanks.

This would fall under Amazon’s Batteries and Charger’s policy , you will need to supply the following documenatation;

Last Year Amazon made changes to their policy to ensure all chargers and batteries comply with applicable EU Laws and regulations, primarily due to previous well documented serious safety issues with substandard products being sold, below is a summary of what is required to gain approval;

Mobile Phone/Laptop Computer Batteries and Chargers
Important: If you supply products for sale on Amazon, you must comply with all applicable EU and local laws and regulations, as well as Amazon policies applicable to those products and product listings.

The sale of all replacement laptop batteries and chargers on the Amazon website must meet specified certification standards. Note that Amazon may remove your selling privileges for failing to meet these standards. To sell these products on Amazon, you must apply by submitting the following information to eu-electronics-safety@amazon.co.uk:

Company name
Merchant Token (Settings > Account Info > Business Information > Your Merchant Token)
Email address
Phone number
The EU marketplaces where you are listing your ASINs
A list of ASINs you are applying to sell
For each ASIN you wish to list, please provide product images showing:
Model number
CE marking
Name and address of manufacturer or registered trademark
EC Declaration of conformity – this can be obtained from the brand owner or official importer of the product in the EU

A document confirming that your product was tested according to the standards listed in the following table. This can also be obtained from the brand owner or official importer in the EU. This is not needed for genuine accessories coming from original brand of laptop or mobile phone (such as Samsung, Apple, Dell, HP,…)

Note: By applying to sell these products, you certify that all the information you submit is true. All sellers on Amazon are responsible for ensuring that their products and listings comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Amazon listing requirements may not reflect all applicable laws, so compliance with these requirements does not exempt you from checking applicable laws and regulations.

Laptop Battery: a hardware component that supplies power to a device, enabling that device to work without a power cord. Laptop batteries are often capable of powering a laptop computer for several hours depending on how much power it requires. Only lithium ion batteries are part of these certification requirements.

As you seem to have no idea how well they will sell sending 100 is a bit overkill,send 10 & see how they go if you use UPS they will get there next day so you can restock quickly.If you are in the UK the cost of shipiping to Amazon using UPS is £4.23 + vat for 15kg.

In addition to the previous replies, you should definitely have the goods sent firstly to you so you can check their condition and ensure that there are no damaged or defective units.

I wouldn’t risk it with powerbanks as any complaints from customers can trigger serious Safety Complaints, which are difficult to appeal.

Only send stock into FBA when you are confident that the items are in a 100% condition, exactly match their description and are packaged according to Amazon’s guidelines, so they don’t get damaged during transit or while being handled by Amazon.
