All GS1 Barcodes show conflicting when trying to list new product

Hi
I am having problems listing products with my GS1 Barcodes. These were purchased over four weeks ago and initially I was able to list some products without issue
.
Yesterday when entering another barcode I received errors (no code) stating the ID conflicted with another product (message gave an ASIN number and description of the product) and to amend the details.

The ASIN mentioned in the message could not be found when searching (later told by Amazon support that it was a discontinued ASIN). It referred to a juice maker.

Following seller support advice!!, I entered the description details of the ‘juicer’ (as given in the message) into the product detail tab and it was accepted. As advised, the intention was to change the product description later to match my product. I managed to do that a few hours later and was waiting for my images to be uploaded and replace the ‘juicer’ images’ when I received an EMail from Fulfilment by Amazon stating my listing was under review as Dangerous Good (Hazmat). To clarify my products are simply pet toys,

To make matters worse, I have dip sampled a number of my other GS1 barcodes and all conflict with other ASINS not belonging to me…the same type of messages appear

Example of Message
…specified cannot be used as it conflicts with the value ‘Mini Juicer Electric Portable Juicy Cup Multi-function Juice Machine Charging Juicer Portable Juice Machine,Pink SZWHO (Color : Pink)’ for ASIN Z in the Amazon catalogue. If this is ASIN ‘B08D98W5D9’, update the value to match the ASIN data. If this is a different product, update identifying information (UPC/EAN/Part Number/etc).

Any ideas would be appriated

Hi couple of things just to check at first:
*I presume you have taken a new annual subscription. With GS1 yes?
*In GS1 are you putting your brand name in Brand and Sub brand?
*The item your trying to list is not listed on Amazon with same title or description?
*The listing is a new listing and not one that you have tried completing before and its failed (this one is common as it would go into drafts need to delete it completely and start it from scratch?

As for

This means there is another product with this listing so I imagine your buying white label the title and description need to be completely different

Did you buy the barcodes directly from GS1 yourself? (This is what your post seems to suggest but just checking!) In this case I would go back to GS1 and explain what is happening and ask them to issue you a new company number and codes as these have been used before.

If they are GS1 codes but you bought them through a third party then, again, they have been previously used, ask for your money back.

Update

I am providing an update to assist anyone that may see this thread having encountered the same issue. A little complicated but hopefully my explanation will make sense

My GS1 codes that have encountered ‘conflicting’ issues with existing ASIN’s when attempting to create a listing, should not have been used by anybody else. I have been correctly issued my numberbank and they should only be used by me.

The likely cause of the problem is this. A previous seller has bought an unauthorised set of EAN’s from elsewhere, maybe even years ago, and has used them on Amazon prior to when Amazon only allowed EAN’s issued by GS1 (2 and a half years ago).

In my case, the conflicting numbers that I have identified, relate to discontinued ASIN’s, so the above would make sense. Except the one that is live now on Amazon.com (live since June 2020 though)

Options

  1. Use the remainder of my numbers that work (ie havnt been used before) to list my products until i have exhausted my 1000 and then see how many i have left which do not work. At which point i can decide whether i want to raise a case with Amazon, as they have allowed another seller to use my numbers. Or i could just purchase more when i run out. It will depend on how many are effected as to what the best course of action would be
  2. Raise a case with Amazon now, to check which of my numbers have been used by another seller (with either live or discontinued listings) and ensure that I am shown as the only person entitled to use them
  3. Give up and forget the whole thing!!

So, i am going with option 1. I may lose some of my numbers at the end of it but it seems a better option than the other two. I don’t think i have the energy at the moment to go round in circles with Amazon

What I am confident of, is that these are my numbers and were correctly allocated to me.

Hope this proves helpful to anyone else experiencing the same issues and messages when attempting to list a product, that I have
