New seller, FBA packaging queries
Hi all! I’m hoping you can help me, I’m very confused at the moment! For context, I am an individual person (sole trader) looking to sell other brands products on amazon. I have bought boxes, poly bags and bubble wrap, with the aim to be able to package these to send to amazon, and using the FBA option.
I have the following questions:
-
If I package my products in their boxes with the standards required by amazon i.e. in a poly bag or in bubble wrap, then select FBA, what extra will be happening to that product when it arrives at the warehouse? - Does FBA just mean they handle things customer side, i.e. if there are any returns, and organise the shipping out to the customer? Do they place in a different box, to make sure my name/sending address isn’t sent out to customers?
-
I assumed that I would need to be sticking a label on the actual product itself, but from going through the process to send off my first product, the only info regarding this states “apply the correct FBA box ID label and carrier label to each box.” - I assume this is to the brown outer box I will be sending the product in? Is this only for products where the manufacturers label is being used, and I would need to print off a label to stick on the actual product if it says amazon barcode required?

Last question! I am looking to sell multiple different products. Is there anyway I can cut shipping costs by sending multiple different products within the same box, and perhaps putting the multiple labels on the outside? I know that sounds confusing, but just wondering whether it can be done!
Thanks in advance!!!

Just to note, i read your comment as saying that items need either a poly bag or bubble wrap for FBA. That is only the case for some products, so it will depend what you are sending - you may just be able to send them “as is”. Nothing really happens in terms of packaging when Amazon receive them, but once ordered Amazon will put them in one of their boxes / mailers and send them to the buyer.
If you are not using the manufacturer barcode then yes you would need to apply FNSKU labels. You would need to look at Amazon’s guidance and see if commingling is something you want to do or avoid.
Yes you can send multiple items in one box, but you wouldn’t get multiple shipping labels since they would be part of the same shipment. You can’t combine multiple shipments in one box.
Edit - do make sure you’ve read all the fees and read them again. People seem to forget storage fees, FBA fees and even referral fees sometimes.

You don’t sound exactly ready for FBA at the moment. Have you actually been through Seller University, and have you read all of the extensive information about FBA that’s available on Amazon?
