VAT invoice request from customer
We have had a VAT invoice request from a customer - we have already signed up for VAT invoicing via Amazon (in May). We have contacted the customer to inform them that they should have received a VAT invoice ( we were told the customers received one automatically once we signed up). They have ignored this and now we are receiving messages via Amazon telling us to provide one as we ignored the customers initial request which was only 2 hours ago. Apart from manually creating one which we can do is there anywhere we can download our own VAT invoice and send it to the customer?. We thought by signing up we did not need to manually provide one?

If you receive a request from a customer to issue an invoice, check with the customer if they have registered the VAT or tax code in their Amazon account. If the customer is an Amazon Business customer, the VAT Calculation Service will automatically issue the invoice. Instead, you will have to issue invoices for requests from customers who have not registered the VAT number or tax code in the Amazon account.

The messages which you are receiving are not being sent to you by Amazon. It is most likely just the buyer’s request forwarded to you by the Customer Service.
They are just referring you what exactly the buyer has told them and you are under no obligation to honor the request, unless they are a Business customer, whom you are required to provide a VAT invoice or a receipt (if not VAT registered).
If you really want to honor the request anyway, there are various free invoice-generating online tools available on the internet which you can use to generate a VAT invoice and provide it to the customer.
