Currently Unavailable?

Morning all - just doing some listing and the first two books I’m checking both show currently unavailable, but when I click on the title and load the catalogue page, there are copies available for sale.

Could someone please have a look at this perhaps to see if it’s just me?

Yes, annoying isn’t it?
Amazon do this when they are not selling against that product detail page.

Exactly, this has been happening for ages. :unamused:

I have just checked a couple of my own hardback second hand books and found the same problem - ‘currently unavailable’. In these cases, the problem doesn’t seem to arise with the paperback versions of these books. I have sent a message to Amazon about this.

Same issue on our best seller, no competitors but lost buy box. CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. Only person selling this product, you click ‘View Sellers’ and only our listing shows, frustrating.
EDIT: Raised case this morning

A super quick reply from SS.

I have looked into this and I must inform you that this is functioning as intended. Products are shown as available only if they are in new condition.

So that’s that then…

I brought this subject up back in august

I typed in a search for something common, Beach Boys vinyl and CD’s. All showing unavailable unless sold by Amazon.

@ melanie80 Yes it may only apply to when Amazon have listings on the product?

I think the overall issue is beyond SS so I may have to send a detailed letter explaining the issue to the MD office so the MD assistants can forward it the correct department. SS are not trained to handle these type of complaints / issues.

However, Inspector_west (above) raised the issue in August and I have not noticed it until it was mentioned today, I always check my products (And other sellers) in searches from time to time and I find myself clicking on the picture or product link before ever setting eyes on the rather greyed out ‘currently unavailable’ bit.

So I think customers would naturally click on the picture of the product as soon as they locate it before noticing the unavailable bit? But still it should show all options from the search.

I just got a response from SS saying it is a technical issue and they are working on it.

Hi;

I have been complaining about this for some time, finally I got agreement on a way forward that does seem to get some attention - although not always !

If there is an Amazon inventory line with the “tempoaraily unavailable” message and you believe the product is no longer obtainable as “New|”, you can go to the “amend products page” request and report a “policy violation” stating that “it has been requested by support management that all such cases are reported”.
You will need the ASIN to complete the request.

It will need to state that the Amazon inventory record itself is violating Amazon policy (emphasing it is not your inventory record at fault) as it cannot be obtained as "“New” anymore.

The reasons you can list are;

  • it is misleading customers - a critical issue for Amazon !
  • it is losing customers - also a critical issue for Amazon !
  • it is corrupting buy box (as Amazon can still win it - and in some cases I was even told by support that this was why it could not be removed- unbelievably).
  • it is frustrating other sellers

Hopefully this will help if everyone does the same !

:sunglasses:
