Additional Sellers of my brand
I haven’t been on this forum very much but I have a question that you may be able to help me with:
I have a brand of products that I manufacture and sell on Amazon both FBA and FBS and I’ve done this with for many years with some level of success (sometimes). I have been approached by someone who wants to sell my products as an additional seller. They would be selling on Amazon as well and will (apparently) appear under the buy box under Other Sellers.
Is this something that I should do? Should I allow another seller to buy my products and sell them on Amazon? I am always very nervous about making any changes on my listings etc. as Amazon are so unpredictable!!
I see that a lot of the big brands have additional sellers so is it something to be encouraged or will it affect my sales or rankings?

Hi Neil,
I would not want to remove my listings and let someone else sell them for me. It’s taken me so long to get up and running properly. It is a lot of hassle but it’s usually worth it.
Thanks for the advice

It depends on a lot of things
Are you happy with the level of sales you are currently getting ?
What discount would you give them and will that leave you short of stock
Are you aware you are unable to tell them what price they can sell for so in actual fact they could be in the BB and you would be the other seller
So many questions, I’m sure others will have more too

Why would you want another seller to sell your listing?
If your already selling it yourself, all you are doing, is allowing a competitor to take away your sales.
The only real reason I can think of why you would do this, would be to allow yourself to remove your own sales and allow another seller to take over, by supplying them directly. That would mean that you wouldn’t have the hassle of selling on Amazon and could concentrate on other channels.

Of course it is possible the other seller has other marketplaces they sell on which you do not - their own website, pop up shop, etc so supplying them may actually see you get more sales overall.
This is a question you need to find out. You could say for example you will supply but they are not allowed list on Amazon (I get this a lot from my suppliers). Or allow them to list on Amazon but supply at such a cost price they have to list at a higher price than you. Or as Neil says withdraw your listings from Amazon and supply them instead and let them have all the hassle.
There are too many variables

Thank you so much for all the advice. I think that I understand better how this works. I wouldn’t want a situation where they have the BB and I’m the additional seller. I was interested because it meant someone buying my stock in a bit of bulk so that I had some cash flow. But it’s not worth it to me. I won’t be doing it. I learn a lot from all of you that take the time to help small sellers like me - thank you
