new heights of ridiculousness

Amazon seller support continues to amaze.

I have a book listing supressed because I dont have permission to sell that brand. its been that way for a while so i thought I would just try again.

I pointed out that firstly, brand approval is not necessary for second hand books, something which has been confirmed in the law courts. And secondly that the listing had been supressed because I dont have permission to sell 'Penguin Brand' I pointed out that the book is actually published by Michael Joseph and not Penguin.

and this was my reply

Please be informed that in order to maintain a safe and trustworthy shopping experience, certain products cannot be listed or sold on Amazon or may be subject to additional requirements because of supply chain authenticity risks.

Your account does not currently meet the criteria required to list these products due to account metrics, distribution pathways of the brand, or other factors.

If your account becomes eligible to sell this product, you will see "Apply to sell" next to the product in the "Add products" feature in Seller Central.

Honestly, what is the point of Amazon even claiming to have seller support in the first place ? Its just ridiculous.

Michael Joseph is owned by Penguin.

Ran into the same problem with a Helm title, a Bloomsbury imprint.

Can't say this is something I get my knickers in a twist over considering the ever decreasing likelihood of selling used books through Amazon and existence of much better venues to sell used books.

To copy and paste scripts. This is a trial. They will lose their jobs to software and AI take over. They don't know it, yet. They haven't got it quite that they need to be indispensable, to fulfill a job role that they signed up for, offer tailor made seller centric solutions to keep the job.

As for needing brand approval for second hand books, you are right. You don't need any approval to sell second hand books. However, remember, seller support is busy copying and pasting. Neither they, nor their supervisors or management have the time or inclination to be informed of all this, however relevant it is, to the business.

I get @Seller_19xPhE8YgkmxW 's point and it is definitely important and valid. Besides that point, in my opinion, you should have been able to sell this book, as it is second hand copy and it wasn't published by penguin, also because this is called a market place for a reason, to sell second hand goods and goods that are not sold necessarily by licensed retailers. But amazon doesn't seem to have anyone who thinks big anymore. Any discerning reader would love to be able to buy such original copies. It is a shame that the actual loser is the amazon customer, apart from the seller themselves.
