Bulk Product Upload Errors - Errors that should not apply! Can a Mod help?
Hello!
I am going through the mill with my bulk uploads. Of course, my older templates do not work, so I am trying to upload using the newest template. I copied all of data from the old template to the new template. I am simply trying to update my products and add my Christmas sales dates in.
The processing file makes note of an onslaught of various image errors, none of which are correct (images are accessible via the web, the sizing should be applicable, they're not returning a 404 page, etc) - these are the same images that I have used on these same listings for years. However, with this, I am currently moving images around and renaming them in hopes of appeasing this automated system. There is one strange image error on a handful of my products:
- ERROR 100238: The PT05 image violates Amazon Image Standards. To fix, please upload a new PT05 aligning to the image requirements.
This error does not seem to be in the help topics that I have searched, but within a separate issue, I did have a lot of images removed from listings because they contained text. The absurdity of it is beyond words. My images contain text because I sell personalized gifts, and the text is the name displayed on a sample product. That's just another issue in a long list that seems to grow longer daily. Like I said, this is just a handful of products. My main issues with the uploads are below.
Aside from image issues, the errors that I have no control over are:
- ERROR 17: FulfillmentCenterID was not recognized as a valid value; inventory was not updated. This may be because you have not used Fulfillment by Amazon on this account yet. To get started with FBA go here: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/ssof/invite/join-fba-redirect.html?scInvite=Y&ld=fbafeederr
I have never been FBA. There's a new column in the template asking for the Fulfillment Channel, and the options are "DEFAULT_NA" and "AMAZON_NA". It doesn't matter if I leave this cell blank or use "DEFAULT_NA", I get the same error. I have not tried "AMAZON_NA", as I feel like that is just for FBA.
- ERROR 6039: You need to obtain approval to sell products in this restricted sub-category. The approval process may include document requests and performance checks related to the product. https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/GDXA7FHN98NH3FYJ
This error makes no sense. I am listing in a category that I have always listed in, my products are already live on site in, and it does not require special approval. The browse path is: Home & Kitchen > Home Décor Products > Home Décor Accents > Snow Globes, and the node is: snow-globes. Please note, on the upload template the drop down option is "snowglobe" rather than "snow-globes" as the node indicates. I am not sure if that matters, but I suspect it might.
I have placed help tickets on this issue, and they always want to focus on the image errors. Help ticket 15711320661 and 15934208761.

We had similar issues with Parts Shots and Product Restrictions despite being ungated from the very category we have multiple listings on. Super frustrating—especially when you’re dealing with errors that don’t make any sense.
ERROR 100238: PT05 Image Violation
My Suggestion: This error usually pops up when Amazon’s image standards aren’t being met. First, I’d suggest checking what PT05 is showing on the ASINs with this error in Image Manager. In Seller Central go to Catalog > Upload Images > Image Manager (Select image manager in the Upload Images page). Search for the ASIN and see all the SKUs for that ASIN - their images may vary. Manually delete the PT05 images.
Re-upload those images with the ZIP file using the Upload or one by one. Image file name is important. Uploading individual images: [ASIN].PT05.jpg (no need to add jpg if selecting filetype as jpg).
ERROR 17: FulfillmentCenterID Issue
My Suggestion: For non-FBA listings, you’re right—leave this field blank. If it’s still causing issues, try a partial upload to see if it helps isolate the problem. It’s also worth double-checking your shipping template just to be sure everything is lined up correctly.
ERROR 6039: Restricted Sub-Category
My Suggestion: This one sounds like a real headache, especially since you’re listing in a category you’ve always used. The difference between “snowglobe” and “snow-globes” could be a part of the issue, though it seems like something Amazon’s catalog management team would need to clarify.
See if you can edit the listing directly in Seller Central. If it’s asking for approval, you might have to go through that process again—even if it feels unnecessary. We had to wait 3 weeks this month to get our listing re-activated despite being ungated and re-approved to list that specific ASIN in the beginning of August.
A Few Extra Tips:
Clearing your browser cookies and cache might help reduce some issues with uploads.
Sometimes, trying multiple full uploads with a fresh template can push through updates. Doing partial uploads can also reveal other errors that need fixing.
I know this isn’t the most fun process, but hopefully, some of these tips from a procrastinating random person on the internet are worth something.

Hi there @Seller_9Hr9qbRYDMSts,
I'm sorry you are having issue with your upload. I've reviewed your Case and the team in Case 15934208761 is working to troubleshoot the exact nature of the errors and best results. I recommend continuing to work with the team in this case however my current understanding of your errors is as follows:
ERROR 100238: The PT05 image violates Amazon Image Standards. To fix, please upload a new PT05 aligning to the image requirements.
I suspect the major issue is the size or resolution of the image. You can check out the requirements on the Product Image Requirements help page.
ERROR 17: FulfillmentCenterID was not recognized as a valid value; inventory was not updated. This may be because you have not used Fulfillment by Amazon on this account yet. To get started with FBA go here: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/ssof/invite/join-fba-redirect.html?scInvite=Y&ld=fbafeederr
I think you may have added to one of the FBA Only Columns for this feed. I would recommend you check out the Upload your inventory File help page and check the "Data Definitions" for each column you filled out to ensure you are filling out the right information.
ERROR 6039: You need to obtain approval to sell products in this restricted sub-category. The approval process may include document requests and performance checks related to the product. https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/GDXA7FHN98NH3FYJ
For this one I would recommend that you wait for a response from Seller Support, if you still have issues I'd recommend reviewing the individual ASINs and add a few using the one by one to ensure its an issue with the feed and not the specific ASINs.
Please feel free to reach out if you are not able to get resolution with Seller Support. Thank you for your understanding.
