GDPR Violation with an Order Placed on Amazon
I placed an order with a company on Amazon for stationery and have just received a delivery from Office Dept. It seems the seller took my order and placed it with a third party. How do I stand at present as my thoughts are this is a privacy violation!

hi the GDPR is not active yet ,Enforcement date: 25 May 2018
have you asked them what happened?
might be a they may have ran out of stock and needed to buy else where and it was quicker to drop ship from that supplier rather than delivered too them and then they send it right out too you?
it has happened to us before where we ran out of stock and got the supplier to send it over
just my 2cents

It’s an interesting point with regard to the impending GDPR, for our direct website we ship using FedEx who we obviously load the customers shipping information , email address for tracking details and a contact Telephone number as do pretty much every Etailer, which is technically passing on data to a third party. For Amazon we are 100% FBA so it’s not an issue as they hold all relevant customer data.
But this issue is cetainly in breach of Amazon’s own drop ship policy.

Passing on buyers personal details to a third party in order to fulfill buyers orders is covered in the GDPR under the lawful basis of “contract”.
Amongst a load of other GDPR related clauses, we have included the following passage on both our own website and on our Amazon “About us” section:
“We may share your personal information with our suppliers, service providers and other contractors to fulfil orders you place with us and to provide the services you request”.
By stating the above, IMO, you are covered in giving buyer detail to the couriers you use.

I don’t see an issue with this personally as long as what you ordered was delivered in a time frame and quality you were happy with?
I’d be more frustrated if I needed it and my order got cancelled…

Loads of office products sellers do this after all if you’re selling large amounts of let’s say jiffy bag and rolls of bubble wrap you need vast amounts of storage space, so they use other tried and trusted companies to fulfil their large volume sales.
Just try thinking outside the box…when a company sells something do they deliver all those sales themselves or do they get a courier or royal mail to deliver These are third-party companies or do you kick up a fuss when the postman delivers to your door? After all, they’ve been given your details by someone.

With all the bad things happening in the world these days how can people get upset when the pens they ordered turned out to be the correct pens smh

If they arrived on time and you are happy with the product there is no issue at all other than your issue with office dept
I think their answer is spot on noting at all wrong with it , as said above its not a violation of GDPR at all even if it was after the 25.05.18.
If you have time read this https://www.eugdpr.org/
If they use a fulfillment center thats fine as well and goods dispatch notes are not an invasion of privacy at all even if its not the original seller , they are simply using a fulfillment center. like alot on here using FBA buy from company X , FBA, carrier .
so you buy from x company but its fulfilled by amazon and delivered by the carrier. so x company sells it , they have your details, amazon ships - it wont show the companies details rather amazons. so this is the same situation …

Don’t think your going to get much sympathy on here. We booksellers do it all the time as we might have 20,000 books but everyone is different. A bu**er to stock control. We would get suspended left right and centre if we did not help each other out.
If you really don’t want anything from this company simply ask the original company not to use them for your orders if you place another.
Did we not have shops that sell stationery that solves the problem…
