Multi Country Inventory
Hello everyone.
I had a phone call from an Amazon rep a few days ago telling me that I could bulk ship to Amazon UK and they would then forward the goods to the required destination (in this case France) at no extra shipping cost. I believe this was MCI but can’t be sure. They also said that they have appointed Avalara to check my customs documentation for a fee of £15.00.
I am registered for VAT in France and have commodity codes for my items.
Has anyone used this service and, if so, could you walk me through the process, please?

Be careful and mindful of the costs for this. They don’t always give you the full picture and I would be very surprised if they are offering this for no shipping costs.
I don’t really understand the question though as they are saying you would bulk ship to the UK and then they would move this onto France. Where are the goods being shipped from in the first instance?
Avalara would then check customs docs for £15? Check what? Are they fiscal representing the goods (i don’t really know what your situation would be though to perhaps offer better support)? ie Where is you Company registered?
Unfortunately reps do get in touch from time to time without actually understanding the implications themselves. Hence you have now found yourself asking someone on the forum to walk you through it rather than asking the the Amazon rep. Hopefully they will know and understand this and walk you through the process but so many times they assume you understand the costs. Often they will mention things like, it is just an extra £15 for someone to check your docs but assume you are going to pay the costs for limited subsidised shipping costs, fiscasl representation costs which is a percentage of the goods you are sending, maybe annual registration costs on top of that.
Also there are different costs depending on where your stock is stored and multi country and pan eu attract a whole load of different costs. For example if your stock is stored as FBA in France and sold to Germany, then you just pay the standard fba charge. However if it is not fba and becomes a cross border fulfillment then this will be near enough double the costs.
Sorry but it is a minefield doing this. I was told I could use the Amazon partner carrier program for Germany but had to set up a German UPS account. Since then I have had numerous bills from UPS for all sorts of charges including taxes, disbursements, carrier charges.
Few weeks later they then tell me that Germany was difficult and having issues and I should use France. It does come with pretty hefty costs though and by mo means being offered this service for £15 all in so please check the offer and what is exactly involved.
