EU EORI / Importer Of Record / Europe Shipping!

Hi all,

We have a FBA shipment currently stuck at Spanish customs. We are sending direct to Amazon Spain FBA. We have sent it DDP.

Although we have an EU EORI number (NL and FR) - they will not accept either. They want a Spanish EORI. (I was almost certain that any EU EORI number would work ??)

They want Amazon Spains details, as the receiver, which of course we cant give, and they will not accept us as the Importer of Record.

They will not sign a POA (UPS DE did this for us in January to get a shipment through German customs).

It’s looking like we will have to have the shipment sent back to us, and go back to the drawing board.

How is anyone else handling sending stock to Europe? We just need it to get in to one centre, and then Amazon will spread it round.

I have heard about setting up a company registration in Ireland, then having all our stock sent to the 3PL in Ireland, whom will then ship orders out to EU (e.g. Germany, France, Spain etc) from our company name, c/o them

Has anyone done this? or advise for or against it?

or

perhaps finding an EU customs broker, that could just sign the paperwork?

Getting really confused with it all, and cant see a light at the end of the tunnel… feeling pretty stuck.

(Just for knowledge, if it helps, we import from a manufacturer in China, and our products are duty free)

Any help, tips or advice, is most welcome - thank you

AFAIK, you’re not allowed to have more than one EU EORI number. How come you’ve got two?

that’s the single thing that we are all most lacking. Now, if I had a load of money I can see yet another way of making more!

Hi,

We tried Germany, it took 6 weeks and we had to give UPS power of attorney to manage it for customs. It was a pain…

We then tried Spain, which was even worse. China to Spain, sat at customs, refused, then sent back to China. Luckilly it didnt go back through chinese customs and was sent to us here in the UK.

In the end we sent direct to France, using a company called WorldOptions.

Note we have a FR Eori number.

Three shipments, and no trouble. we did have to pay import VAT, which was then paid twice on orders, but we managed to claim that back on UK VAT return. With the new rules not sure how it will work.

We have a NL and FR EORI.

I believe you need to send it where your EORI number is (don’t believe they will work anywhere - thats rubbish)

cheers

Our EORI number is German. You only need one and should only have one for the whole of the EU.

We have successfully sent hundreds of consignments into France since March 2021 using our German EORI. DO NOT TRY to send consignments into Germany for PAN EU. In Germany the law says you must have “boots on the ground” fiscal representation. In France this is not a requirement. If you are PAN EU, France is also the cheapest to ship to from the UK.

Amazon handle the distribution of stock. Most of ours ends up in CZ and PL for the German market.
