Why can't you use manufacturer UPC barcodes for dietary supplements? Is this still the case?

Upon sending inventory to Amazon FBA, in the creation of a FBA shipment, it always prompts us to switch from our Amazon barcodes to our manufacturer barcodes. I read a while back that dietary supplements do not qualify to use UPC manufacturer barcodes and must use Amazon barcodes. Supposedly, the use of manufacturer barcodes cannot be used on products that have expiration dates and also are consumable products. Is this still the case? I know Amazon is constantly making updates and changes of progression. The fact that switching to manufacturer barcodes is always offered to us made us want to inquire to determine if that's even an option for dietary supplements. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Have not seen any notice of change to the policy. And it makes sense that all expiration dated product need to have an FNSKU.
