Do I need separate UPC numbers for all variations?

Hi All

I am creating a new listing. Have an UPC number from GS1 for the parent. They come in small, medium and large. When I am in the variation page it is asking for an external product ID for each one. Either UPC or ASIN. It is not accepting the parent UPC for all the variations. Do I need a new UPC for the 3 size variations?

each item needs a separate upc.

The parent does not need one since a parent is not a sellable item. It’s just there to keep the children linked

The answer provided by @Seller_AXC06kcsKI1qG is correct, every member of a Variation must use a unique UPC unless you are exempt by using a GTIN Exemption. Thank you for your understanding.
